Well it was hot. Real hot. The weather that is. I should have been on the water at 6 instead of 7:30. By the time 11 am rolled around the bottled water was gone and It was smokin' out there. I should have noticed that sean and Andy were already wearing shorts. Hmmmmm, next time check what the locals are wearing. We were  all kind of fishing in different areas but I think Sean managed 2 and I saw Andy catch one around 10 so there was hope for me yet. I trolled all the way from the dam to the north end along the east side and turned to go back across the northeast point and got a double. The first one was farmed and I grabbed the other rod and reeled up the slack to rebait the first rod. Then the rod goes off and I land a neat little striper. Thats it for the day. The smallies weren't biting . I got back to the launch at 2pm  real thirsty. By then the partiers were out in force and jets skis tumbling across the water made my mind up for me. Get the hell out of here!  I had some fun and it was good to meet Andy and Seans son Chris. Next time I will arive a little earlier and wear some frickin' shorts. I was really missing the ocean and the bay. It must have been 80 by 11am

Way to get out there Craig. At least you weren't by yourself. BTW, what did you
used for bait?

Thanks,

Cool, You got one.  They're real fun there, although I've only caught a couple.

They should have more lakes that are for non motorized craft only.  Seems weird to have such high powered machines in that little lake.

 I agree 100% with that.

Craig-

Good to hear that you got some action. Mel and I got there way late and the sun was way blazing. We tried to hail any NCKAers on the VHF but all I got was some broken up stuff that I couldn't make out. We fished hard for nada... I was thinking that it was way to hot for anything to be biting and with all the lake lice out there... it was tough. Oh well... it was all good.

Thanks for the report and pictures Craig.  How's the watwer level?  Is it still very low?  Did you try the Crappie Cove?

Indeed.  That was catch of the day for me...he REALLY wanted to go.  I did manage one smaller fat striper around 6 pounds, and had another one come unbuttoned.

The fishing was pretty lame, and the water is already looking funky...not too promising for 09.

That sunrise picture looks like it was blazing already. Great photos of the flat calm water to start the day. With the lack of water in the  "no motor" zone for us kayakers, that lake is going to be dangerous this summer....that is until the second ramp closes.

Craig-

Mel and I launched at the north end. I was contemplating driving to the south end but decided to avoid the madness going on out there. That sun sucked the life force out of me. And it pretty much killed Melissa too. She was pretty tired from paddling. I had to hear about it all the way home... and the next day... and...
