Very Nice!

You might want to make some with single, light wire hooks so those beauties don't get broken off on the rocks.

I only have poured three doz. of each so far, 5 oz. and 10 oz. but its all good even if I donate some to the fish gods.

The smaller jig is about 4 inches long and weighs 5 oz. I have a larger mold that is 10 oz. but I dont have any pics of them yet.
The 5 oz jig is somewhat compact but I think its design will do well in a fast drift/deep water cond. ( deep water as in 70 to 100 ft.). Thankyou for the props and I hope to meet you there.

I plan on bringing more than my share of tackle. :smt0

Hey R H, good idea. I will make a few and see how they hold up.

I hope to meet you guys at GSIII.

Thanks guys, I do plan on bringing some for trade, or if someone is in need of a heavy jig to bang on the bottom. :smt002

I just got another order of paint so I might have some crazy color combos too.

Also, I will have a spool of 50lb braided dacron and some 5/0 and 7/0 hooks to make dancing stinger hooks.

I think he meant the powder paint that was baked onto his jigs.

Hi Tote, I havent figured out how to post the quotes on the reply yet. So here is what I do with the paint.

I jumped in feet first (as I do with most things I try) with this powder paint. Pouring lead is old hat, but throwing 10oz jigs without them getting too wrinkly was kind of tricky. I got a cute little air compressor and an airbrush they pimp out of the tackle making websites. Which is actually a neat little media blaster, not an air brush.

The powder paint is super fun to play with, easy to mix colors and apply either by dipping the item in the paint or use the airgun. The lures must be heated to 350deg. I bought a toaster oven for 4 bucks at a thrift store and that works fine. I use one of my flytying vises to hold the jig so I have both hands free. I have the air brush in one hand and a torch in the other (to keep the jig hot , they cool down fast with the air blowing on them from the gun), just dont burn the paint.

I set up a little paint booth with a shopvac for ventilation to keep the mess to a minimum. I want to set a funnel in the vacuum hose with a coffee filter to catch the extra paint. Waste not, want not. :smt002

The last step is to coat them in a two part clear doming compound to seal them and give them some depth. It will also keep the eyes from falling off.

Aside from the paint dust, it isnt too messy and it doesnt smell at all.

I will post some more pics soon.
