I'm going to buy some more super braid line. I've mostly used Power Pro. I have Sufix on one rod that I like. I'm also looking at the Cabelas brand Rip Cord. Anyone tried it? I like the sufix, but it's the highest price. Debating if it's worth the extra $$$ Cabelas' offers a 60 day trial no questions asked return policy. Powerpro is the most common, but I'm not convinced it's the best out there. Comments and opinions are welcomed.
thankx, Jonesz

I'm with you on the Sufix, that's the one I like. As I'm sure you know, Cabelas doesn't make any of their products, so I bet it's either Sufix or Power Pro in a Cabelas box. I'm curious to hear the results.

I bought a spool of it for my spinning reel and didn't like it, it seemed like it just sorta fall off the spool like it was overfull even when I cut a bunch off so I took it off and put it on a Baitcaster and it's fine. I like the Suffix for my spinners if you go to there website you can get a rebate $6.00 for 150yds and $10 for 300. http://www.sufix.com/downloads/coupons/sufix_2009_coupon.pdf

I used to use Power Pro, then I got a few bad spools that simply fell apart.  Using Izor spectra now and its been great.

I'm similar to most of the previous replies. I started with PowerPro and I've since moved to Sufix for most of my reels. I also have my Avet spooled with Izor spectra because that is what Charkbait provided for free. I like the Izor as much as Sufix so far, but I haven't fished with it enough to form a real strong opinion.

I started using suffix only because when reading reviews at Cabellas several people remarked that PP didn't handle abrasion well and that they better luck with suffix.

does anyone know who the actual OEM is for these?

I seriously doubt that any of these guys actually manufacture the line...my guess is that there are only one or two factories where its churned out

Not sure about Cabela's line I read in a bass form that it was made by Tuff Line, but read in another it was made by Suffix

About Sufix: The name Sufix might be new among fishing enthusiasts, but believe it or not, this company has been in business since 1973 under the name Yao I Fabric Co., Ltd which has a complete range of racquet strings, lawn and garden products, a monofilament for textile, and of course fishing lines.  They are one of the largest monofilament manufacturers in the world and has a long history of OEM manufacturing.  The name Sufix is their own brand of products.  Sufix is quickly growing in the fishing line market by introducing premium fishing lines such as the Tritanium Plus and others that show excellent performance and quality.

Power pro
In 2008, Shimano American Corporation completed its agreement to acquire Innovative Textiles
Konrad Krauland founded Innovative Textiles in 1992 in Grand Junction, Colorado, with the intent of manufacturing high strength braided lines for sport kiting. However, the need for a braided fishing line that was compatible with light tackle angling pushed Innovative Textile's development and manufacturing team to research, test, and develop a new braided super line - a small diameter line offering greater strength and less stretch than traditional monofilament lines.

Tuff line is made by Western Filament

I use tuff line for sturgeon and tuna with no problems in the last ten years and last year started using spiderwire on  one of my trout trolling rods more as a test and really like it too since it feels like 2lb test the fish seem to have more fight

Read the CharkBait link and you'll get a good idea.

When I started using braid I saw too many failures with Power pro so I used Izor and Jerry Brown. Lately on smaller stuff I've been using the Stren braid. I haven't tried the Suffix but that was my other choice.

A braid with a higher tread count is smoother and supposed to be stronger, it also is more expensive, like Blackwater or Jerry Brown.

If you get some hollow braid(dacron or spectra) you can prefab leaders/topshots and use loop to loop connections which go through guides nice. Then use the same spectra backing with a loop to hook up your different combos of mono, flouro, etc.

I've been using StrenSuperBraid for awhile.  Its ok, I like it cause its limper than PP and ties better for me.

Using Izor spectra now and its been great.
Where do you get this, Sean?  I really like their mono and would be curious to check out their spectra.

Anybody ever try Momoi's braid?

I am a die hard believer in Momoi's mono...landing several 100+lb rays on their 20lb test mono.
