Got a late start this morning, but made the best of my first day of a week off.  The weather was perfect, mostly calm and sunny.  Got 13 LMB in the 1-3 pound range (pic 1), plus one bonus fish at the end of the day.  Most fish were caught worming tight to tules.  Fish were biting real soft.  At the end of the day, around 6:45 when the sun went behind the incoming cloud cover, I started to throw the swimbait.  About 10 casts later, I saw a nice bass bee-line for my lure.  She tagged it hard, jumped with a head shake, and then immediately buried herself in the weeds.  I kept pressure on the fish and peddled over to her.  Ended up being a nice 5 pound, 1 ounce (pic 2) kicker at the end of the day.

Seven more days off work...I'll post up again this week.

Hobie, I hope you enjoy your time off as much as we enjoy your posts. Like Ariel said, it seems that you are the bassmaster. Have a great vacation.

beautiful fish.  Do you generally use spinning or casting?
Everybody should have the opportunity to fish

Do you generally use spinning or casting?

I use both (notice the five rods in the background).  I use spinning rods for the worming and tossing senkos.  I also use spinning rods for drop-shot, smaller crankbaits and jerkbaits, and poppers.  I use my baitcasters for swimbaits, spinnerbaits, larger crankbaits and jerkbaits, bigger topwater baits like spooks and buzzbaits, jigs, and larger plastics like 8-10 inch worms.

My five rods yesterday included three baitcasters (crankbait, swimbait, and jig) and two spinning rods (worm and senko).

Overkill?  Totally.  But that's what bass fishing is all about  :smt003
