My suggestion would be go and barrow or rent one of each, and spend some time on the water with each yak. Your yak has to fit you. This is what I did and the T13 fit me better then the T15. Good luck on your search it is not an easy task.

Jeff:

I have both the T15 and the T13 in my fleet.

You are welcome to come borrow either or both for testing here in Santa Cruz.

Maybe we could go out fishng together and switch off out on the water for comparison purposes.

Allen

Steve I know you loved that Prowler 15 when it was new...Looks like only half the boat is used to be.  Plenty of flotation, but I think the speed suffers.

Allen, he forgot to turn off the stealth mode; it is a DOD option with the new T-15 although it really drains the battery quickly so one has to use it sparingly. My Sunrise T-15 turns into Sunset with the flick of a switch :smt003

I just wanted to post some info on the P-15 versus the T-15 I got in reply from the OK factory customer service in case it will be useful. I asked how the two were different in handling and speed given the T-15 hull was a bit wider and re-designed. Here is what they had to say:

Quote
Hello,
Thank you for your email. The Trident is a much newer and more
efficient design. The fact that it is 1 inch wider than the 15 is pretty
negligible. It will technically increase stability, but with the newer
hull design, it performs just as well as the 15.

In the end, I chose a T-15 over a T-13 because of capacity, deck space, hull speed (the T-13 is the same width) and gave up a negligible loss of maneuverability and gained a few more pounds to carry. If you think you'll feel a significant loss in maneuverability in the T-15, the T-13 is one answer. But you might want to consider learning the advanced paddling maneuvers used with 16-20 foot sea kayaks to make them very maneuverable--forward and reverse sweep strokes, stern rudder, low brace turns, bow draw, and sculling draw--I think you'll find no noticeable loss in maneuverability after that and find the bigger size is more sea worthy. The strokes aren't as effective since we cannot J-lean a SOT without thigh straps--and I wouldn't fish with such deck clutter--but I have found they added to the maneuverability of my P-15 substantially. Those strokes are not hard to learn just sometimes counter-intuitive. Anyone can learn them with a little patience. And of course those strokes will make the T13 even more responsive and maneuverable than the T-15 in your hands.

Having paddled all the Tridents (15,13,11)...I still reach for the good 'ol P-15  :smt007 I'm really bummed that OK decide to discontinue this model  :smt011

*All the P-15 needed was a rod pod, then it would have been my dream kayak :smt002*

Just my 2 cents..

...that and a drain channel in the foot wells.

I think we'd be foolish to expect OK (or any vendor) to praise a product they discontinued unless they talked of the improved design of its successor. It's standard PR in any industry. OK is "improving" the Prowler line to fit the perceived needs of a major portion of their target market. And I think they achieved that. But I think they compromised on other factors whether they'll come out and say it or not.  I was looking at the side-by-side up on saw horses yesterday as I did some work on the P-15 and started rigging the T-15. From what I know about kayak hull design, the design of the T-15 has significantly harder chines, is more bluff in the bow and stern (more flare away from the middle) and is slightly more wide while keeping the significant Prowler V in the fore hull for speed--all changes increasing stability and capacity while diminishing quickness and nimbleness compared to the P-15. I'l be keeping my trusty old P-15 as well and selling my Marauder--WAF maintenance allows only so large a fleet.

There is a saying in law: "res ipsa loquitur" which means "the thing stands for itself" referring to a fact that is obvious and needs no explanation to the court. It certainly applies here just looking at the boats side by side up on the saw horses.

The Humminbird products fits quit well and the Thu-hull transducer is the only way to go.
