So I just got done getting a hotel room at the Double Tree for my girlfriend and I for saturday night. Got a $450 room for $199, two room junior suite with jacuzzi tub.  :smt004 But I am coming down Mchenry Ave and the car in front of me stops fast. I am far enough away to slow down quickly but not skid. The guy behind me is not paying attention obviously and slams into the back of me. I pull off on a side street so we can exchange information. I was never mad or upset. Just doing the right thing. He come over trying to shake my hand and I ask him if he has insurance. "No I don't", lovely I think to myself. I tell him to hold on and I go back to my car and call Modesto PD. I am and hold and I see him pacing. He comes over and keeps asking who I am calling and tells me he knows someone who can fix my car, blablabla. He asks me again who I am talking to and I tell him the police department. He begins yelling at me and runs back to his car and I hear it start up. I grab my digital camera from my center console and I hear his tires squeeling. I run after him and get two pics of his car. One side shot and one liscence plate. The plate shot is blurry and comes back in the police computer as a Cadillac. But in fact it was a Honda Civic. I have to drop my memory card off to the police department tomorrow so they can see if they can enhance the plate image and see if the letters are correct. If anyone has good image skills and wants to help me out I will email you the full sized image. I am so pissed people just can't abide by the law and get atleast cheap liabilty insurance!  :smt013

Ok I am done venting

Man, that sucks. Sorry. Two NCKA dings in a week. How badly dinged is your car?

Bumber is cracked and spider webbed. Nothing major but still is damaged. My car has no dings or major scratches. Well now it does  :smt009

Well. I think it now makes it a felony assuming they can catch him. You should look in the paper and CL for a used white honda for sale. You may get lucky. The odd thing is if he is trying to sell it he's gonna have a hell of a time with stolen plates.

5ZWC122 is what I get out of it.
Hopefully it isn't a stolen plate.
One trick some people at fault do is to wave for you to pull over with them and as soon as you pull over they gun it and take off.
At least this guy stopped for a second or two.
Lesson learned, go straight to the license plate.
I hope you get this Ahole.

Hope you get him ... and if you do, it is now a hit-and-run.  I hope they nail him to wall.

We got 5ZQU122. That came back as the Cadillac

We tried 5ZQO122 and that came back as not a registered plate, unprinted, never used.

Ill play with photoshop later, maybe I can clean it up a little

Thanks, I posted this up on the Sniffer board as well and someone said to check craigslist since the for sale sign in the passenger side window. I checked and didnt see anything I will check again soon.

Check the local Walmart parking lot.
There are usually a lot of cars for sale left there.

It seems to be the week for hit'n'run on NCKAers. That was a good idea to grab your camera. If your resolution size was set higher, I'm sure the number would be more clearly seen. But I think the police should be able to enhance it somehow.

Yeah, it was set at 10.1 MP but I was running and after I looked it was still set on the macro setting. Oh well. We both got it. Hopefully no one else does....

The damage is hardly the point. That is an irresponsible driver who needs a slap on the wrist.
Email me the picture. I'm no master, but I'd be happy to play with it in Photoshop.
