Headed out around 7:30, Ariel joined me soon after.  After my snapped line incident Friday, I was prepared today with suitable gear, ready to do battle.  Drifted the same spot, same type bucktail jig.....  bendo!!!!!  Fish on!  Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

Dang, even my sturgeon didn't fight this hard...  after peeling line and getting towed around, Ariel paddles up and I can hear him giggling...  my pole was bent like crazy trying to get this thing to the surface.  Had to figure it was a ray, and it was....  What a workout.

And then...

Ariel took off towards the end of the wall, and soon left me far behind...  He can really haul ass in that T16.  I only made it to the big hole til I gave up fighting the wind and tide and drifted back to explore the haven of the canal, following it around to the back side of Alameda.  When I came back out, I see Ariel again and he whips this out:

Got out there late today around 8am. Sorry Eric I partied a little to hard lastnight. Hung over this morning.

Met with Eric on the water. We worked the channel in front of Encinal High and the Ballena Bay. Marked lots of fish on the ff. Drifted my way down to the mouth of Ballena Bay then worked my way back towards rockwall.

Looked back at Eric cuz I heard his drag go off. Saw my brother Eric in the middle off this battle......

Eric was being dragged all over the place by that batray. In the end we shared a beer and some laughs. Thanks for the beer Eric.

I left Eric and paddled towards the end of the wall. Wind and current was battling us all day. Finally made it to the end of the wall by the marker buoy after what felt like a solid hour paddling. I pinned on a shiner and started my drift back.

Worked the whole area back. Paddled back to spots that look decent. Worked the deep holes that I know of. Finally got this guy when I reached the the big kidney shaped hole along the end of the first rockwall.

Came in at 25-1/4" & 6lbs

Met with Eric back at the launch and the DFG surveyor Cameron, really nice guy.

Thanks Eric good fishing with you brother.
