First try for the halis this year for me. There were plenty of PBs on the water. Met Justin (forget his handle) and his girlfriend? in the parking lot. He was nice enough to offer me some shinners he bought a LL. I tried to make bait first, but to no avail, so I took him up on his offer. He gave me four to work with. Thanks again Justin. First drop I got a pull dowm before I was even ready. Maybe 30 seconds into it. I was still organizing the deck, and he caught me off guard, and I missed him. Minnow came up dazed :smt104 and hanging on one hook. He didn't last too much longer after that. Put on a new volunteer and sent him down looking. He came up with a decent striper. 26"er. Decided to keep it to add to my AOTY talley. It's a starter anyways. Put on the next volunteer, and sent him down for a look see. Came up with the right target this time. Nice hali, 28-30"es, got her up to the boat one time only to have her unbutton on a panic rush after seeing the boat  :smt013  the wind was blowing pretty hard out there today. Never stopped peddling all day. Got tired of it around 3pm and called it a day. Made some fish n chips for my dad and brother with the striper.  :smt003 Not a bad opener tho...

Way to go, Jonesz.  Too bad about the unbuttoned hali - it would've been a great double in short time.  Good action for smile therapy though.   :smt001

Nice fish Jonesz. Sorry i couldn't pick you up on the radio. I am glad someone got something on Saturday. The wind was kickin' up big time at San Quentin. I switched over to trolling at the top of the tide and must have drifted a mile just setting up. Nice bright striper.

The wind was definetly a beaoch! When I was on my way in I was thinking it might not be a bad idea to bring along an anchor just to get a break from constantly working against it. If you stop to rebait or retie, your a couple hundred yards downwind before you know it. Hey Don, looking at that pick you posted I could understand why. It looks like a few inches of crinkle in that tape  :smt005 At least I'm laying my fish down natural and not squeezing the tail out for that extra half inch...(Oh, did I say that?)  :smt04 This year my goal is to just get one of every species.  :smt002 I'll say it agian tho, "who's bright idea was it to catch sturgeon from a yak?"  :smt005

That's a healthy looking striper Jonez. Too bad about the but... it's early though and I know you'll stick one sooner or later.

Nice line sides.

Sorry to hear about the hali- I hate those lame duck fighters that wake up right as you are about to land them-they are a biaotch to fight on top of the water.

WTG getting out there though.
