Now a kayak owner for a few months I took it on it's maiden voyage today.  The weather was nice and my roommate wanted to try out his 12' inflatable that he picked up recently.

While he sped around wasting gas I

and caught

and then

Things I learned my first time out that I already knew - leashes are good.  I didn't have one on anything but sure could have used one on my chelada.  Knocked it of the yak into the lake.

Paddling into that afternoon wind and mini-whitecaps is slow.  Kind of fun though.

If my lower back recovers I'll be out there again tomorrow.  Oh, and the fish were caught drifting agents.

Nice to see some water in the lake, it looks almost full.  :smt001 nice smallie.

Unfortunately it is still pretty low, 53600 acre/feet or so.  Hopefully there will still be a lake come BAM time this year.  I've wanted to attend for the last few years but didn't pick up a kayak until recently.

Once I get a rack on my car though I'll definitely be attending some non-local events.

Nice report!  I love the way the smallies fight.  Did you catch them on live or dead "agents"?

Keep up the good work.  :smt006

There was no pre-fish "safety meeting" if that is what you guys are getting at.  Not really my style.

Jarhead, I'm not sure about the 5th wheel parking as I'm a tent guy myself and live in Ukiah.  I think I have camped at the lake twice in the last 10 years.

Big Matt, they were both caught on live agents from the bait shop on the way to the dam.  The folks that work there lately are nice folks that I am guessing are the kids of the owners.
