New to this whole fishing report - but here it goes!   :newbie:

After a fairly stressful week (or 4)   :busy, I thought – what better way to recoup than to hook some Bass on the Delta (or so I thought).  Met up with Brian G – and he let me borrow his Cobra Marauder.  Unloaded one kayak only to find out that what we thought we could launch from - was a fishing pier.  Of course, he just decided to walk a ¼ mile with the yak on his back to a launch-worthy area.

Loaded up the second with EVERYTHING for both yaks and roped me into dragging it up an extremely steep staircase (which would explain why my calves and back ache like you wouldn’t believe).  Made it up – and launched off the rocks….. was told to “not go far and he’d show me how it’s done”… but I couldn't wait, I was off and paddling about halfway out of the cove (off of Glassrock Road/Hwy 12 near Lodi).  Brian G got a little too eager and ended up stuck in the brush (video to follow).  Sadly between the two of us, we had one lonely nibble (SAD!) … but that’s all I needed to become hooked!   Beautiful sun - perfect weather... and a kayak rigged for a lefty - and I'm a righty  :smt044

Called it a day and bbqed up some delish Tri-tip sandwiches with some home made roasted garlic mayo and grilled veggies (don’t be fooled, I BBQed, not him!).   :beer2

Can’t WAIT for more!  It's supposed to warm up into the 70s this week!   :fishing2

Jigs and buzz baits. Brian was also throwing jerk baits.
I took instruction from Brian - as I'm not Bass Savvy... so if there was something else we should have used - I blame him :)   :smt002

Backrubs and lunch??????  I got no backrub (after hauling the kayak up - even after someone offered to help - no no, she's got it).... AND I made the tri-tip sammies!   :smt010

So... about you taking me out?  I still need to demo that Venus  :smt002

Okay, this is too early for an April Fools, plus I've read your posts before (haven't all the guys,  :smt002 ).

Mooch, you are to smooth to keep up with...

Michelle...good luck with the bass fishing (and Mooch).  It'll really break loose in a few weeks.  You'll have a blast throwing topwater baits for them this summer.  If Brian and Mooch can't get you on the fish--I can, haha!   :smt044

Great report and pictures.  Thanks for sharing.

Bryan

Great first fishing report and pictures NCK. Wait till you catch your very first fish on the yak, it will be even more rewarding. See you on the water soon.

I was REALLY bummed I didn't catch a thing and that's when Brian confessed he knows nothing about bass fishing...   :smt011
