I headed out solo for some beach therapy yesterday.  Of course I'd imagined slaying the rockfish from a few of my favorite spots, but the bite was off.  It's hard to have a more beautiful place to get skunked though, so it's all good.  I used the yak on Roleez for transporting all my crap, but hiked out onto the reef today.  I even brought my BBQ - that's what probably cursed my bite!   :smt005  I got 1.5 miles down the beach and realized I left my matches in the truck.  Then I found that I'd taken off my hat when I removed my sweatshirt, and I left the hat on a rock along the beach.  That was enough to encourage a 3 mile jog back up the beach to get my hat and the flame I'd never need for the BBQ...  6 miles on the beach, 3 with a loaded Roleez-mobile, a few cold Sierra's, and now my head feels good.   :smt001

Another great post!  Eric, did you ever find out about the status of  the "boat in to a spot to fish from land thing?"

Dave - Until May 15th I know it's illegal to boat to a spot and fish if you couldn't walk there, and I have a feeling the warden wouldn't like my boating to a spot I can walk to either...  If I'm out there fishing and the warden comes up the beach I'll walk in to talk to him on the beach - that would pretty much prove my point.  If it's a matter of trust like, "you can't have that kayak here - you might catch fish from it and then say you were just boating around the bay..." then it's a sad world.  When you're working your ass off to have a good time (like I like to do) you shouldn't have to encounter lack of trust.  Like I'm going to drag all that crap a mile and a half down the beach to cheat - and then get skunked!   :smt005

I wasn't  going to produce a video of yesterday's trip, but the "walking to the rock I usually yak to" segment is all about what you've brought up.

FYI-Its a sad world.  If bigeye can get a ticket for a limit of nines with a nine inch gage, I wouldn't put it past em to write you up.

Looks like a great time!!
