Hello, my name is Big J, and I'm a fisherWOman.

No, snapperhead, I’m still in the game. I think I must have intimidated you with my fishing prowess so you wished that I would hang up my rod and reel! :smt044

Mae West once said, “You're never too old to become younger,” and I feel like a kid again when I fish, paddle, camp, and laugh with my NCKA friends. I am, however, becoming a fair-weather fisherperson—no more icy hulls at 6 AM on a winter day or rainy and windy paddles to boat-in campsites! And I’m going to stick to freshwater fishing. Thus, I’m cleaning house, or the garage as it may be, of extra gear; but I’m keeping my favorite Prowler 13 and my trusty trolling and casting rods and reels for those HUGE trout that I’m known to catch.

In the past year, I had some family glitches that kept me from getting out on the water; I’ve had a persistent cold (and bronchitis, sinus infection, flu, etc.) since December; and I just had DQ tendonitis surgery on my right hand. On the plus side, I started quilting again (see my pics) which has piqued my creative side with color and fabric again.

Many thanks to those who PMed me. In the future I’ll try to be more responsive to your messages and more active with hookups. NCKA rocks!

Being sick sucks!  and it can cause feelings of loss of motivation - it's happened to me...   :smt012  It's also an opportunity, like any unfortunate event in our lives, to re-assess our M.O. and consider whether changes are in order.  I encourage you to look for the half full part (like you've shown you're doing here), and when you regain your vital energies be open to another re-assessment which will include the wisdom and judgment that you've gained from recent events in your life.  The hope is that one is able to make an adjustment that will allow maximum enjoyment of future activities without leaving the scene.

Fishaholics band together!  (we'd love to see you at the Cove, Big J).   :smt001

Beautiful work Janice this stuff normally doesn't excite me too much but these are really different I like them all but the Bahia Drake and the Log Cabin :smt007are outstanding. Shannon is going to flip when she sees them. You should teach a class talk about WAF.

I got in a lot less fishing last year than the year prior due to such 'glitches'.  I can garden or brew beer and watch the kids at the same time, so I did that instead.

That might have come out sounding like my kids were glitches, when the 'glitch' was that I was the only one available to watch them every weekend for months on end.
