Since we are talking about fishing bobbers.... I think its called ..."the bobber with a brain"... It looks a little ungainly but it allows the weight to sink to the bottom.... whatever the depth and the bobber traps the line itself..... not sure how much open ocean application it has  .... but it's a little different spin on the standard red/white bobber.

The type we used to use were clear and had a center pillar that pulled out to allow some water in and then you reinsert it back in. The line travels down the center of the pillar. I seem to remember they were pretty inexpensive. mIKE

get some red straws from the local bar, they push right thru the foam. We push them on a angle so they can wrap around the float for tension, so we can adjust the depth easier. You want to find WHITE dink foam at the hardware store, Home Depot only has grey. The white is dye-able and stronger.

FYI,  Mike Baxter, Santa Cruz captain extraordinaire (ex Wild Wave captain) was talking about float/bobber rigging for salt water at the ISE in San Mateo.  If he's talking about it, you can be sure that it is an effective method.

haha Allen steals my line AGAIN!!

Baxter described this bobber setup for WSB ast the ISE sow, also gave me the tip about the red straws or coffee stirrers through the foam on the "dink float"  I thinkl it more apporpos for WSB if you have a motor attached to your boat, but even in the yak you can get some distance from these spooky fish.

I am trying this summer for sure.

BTW, Mike Baxter can be heard on the Let's Go Fishing Radio Show Thursday nights 7-8pm 1080AM, or via the web at the LGFRS website or KSCO website...lots of good info and fishing type entertainment.

show runs from April-September,so tune in

Sorry to steal your line Allen.  I was waiting for you to chime in on this, but you didn't, so I HAD to, right?
