So-- on with the stimulus idea...where's the closest place that I can stimulate the economy with a purchase (beer).

There's a general store on the way down the hill - pretty good selection and not too bad of prices (for being out in the boonies) - probably $8-10 for a 6'er of Sierra or Becks or something.  If the deli/store is open at the campground (they're restoring the building right now due to a fire back in December and hope to be done by May) the selection is good there and the prices about the same.

i am leaning towards booking a room. i may be bringing my 6 year old daughter. she would like to know if there is anywhere she can shoot her pink daisy bb gun at soda cans.

Bring her - she could expose my 5 year old boy to the bb gun!   :smt003  and there are DEFINITELY plenty of potential bb gun ranges around.  As a matter of fact, I checked out the tides for our trip and they're ideal for being at the launch and the beach during the day.  Hanging out along the black sand beach in the cove at low tide is usually quite a pleasure as the prevalant north winds are blocked and even in the winter the low angle of the sun can be enjoyed with the purely south exposure.  Shooting up against the bank, it may be a kid's bb gun fantasyland.   :smt001

I know it's still super early - but I will be bringing a dessert and maybe a salad of some sort for the potluck. I will also donate a few fish if there is a fryer, by any chance. Everything else will be CPR.

Wowza!   :smt007  I'm definitely looking forward to meeting Andy.   :smt001

I'm sure there'll be multiple fryers around.  Here's what Domenic did with the greenling from Sunday:

Excellent pics, Sonny - I especially like the black sand beach shot.   :smt001

Here's some more, including more info on the perch and some dolphin shots:

This looks like it's gonna be nuts. But I do have a little girl :baby who should be here in the beginning of April. So for at least 3 months I'm gonna be a zombie. Can I bet on who I think's gonna win the MBF?? :smt003

Congratulations, Z!

At this time NCKA will be occupying 3 of the 8 rooms at The Tides Inn (Danglin, domenic, Abking - all with family along).  Domenic told me yesterday that Julie at The Tides indicated that we will enjoy some pretty sweet perks if we fill them up for the 15th and 16th.  Here's her response to my email this morning:

Yes, I told Domenic that if you fill-up the entire hotel (8 rooms), you may party on the concrete in front of the building and use one garage for music.  We have a bbq that you can borrow, too.  Three of the 8 rooms have you guys in them.  We have left:  one mini-suite, three standard rooms with king bed, and one standard room with two double beds...  You'd have to quiet-down about 10:00 and all go home.  The full-suites are very large.  The living room just begs for company.  If you think you can fill us up, let me know and I will mark it off so no one else can intrude.   ~~Julie

Having at least the early part of our potluck on their patio right over the beach would be something special.  If anybody thinks they're into it be sure to enquire with Julie:

By boat?  It depends how flat it is.   :smt002

It's 45 minutes off of 101 from Garberville.

I can see the headline in local news paper: "Shelter Cove was invaded by kayak anglers"  :smt003
"Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain."
