Lake Mendocino

Hi all, I'm new to the kayak fishing thing here, I just got a prowler a few months ago and am LOVING it.  I know that the stripers don't start getting exciting until around May, but can you catch them now?  I never see anyone on the water this time of year.  I live 10 minutes away so its pretty convienent.  Also, is there anywhere to get live minnows in Ukiah???  i hate driving to lakeport and have to turn around and go back to Blue Lakes.  Thanks  Great page by the way i have learned alot in the short time I've been looking around

Normally the lake is good from late Feb until Late May and then mid Sept. until late Nov.  The water is clear enough to fish right now, but the fishing is way off.  Expect the whole year to suck this year as the lake is in dire straights.

You can get minnows at the shitty bait shop on Lake Mendo drive..
