Brian I have limited space in my garage also with the 2 cars inside it takes up all the room. During the cool weather yaks stay on my Bronco. during the hot intense sun months they go in the garage.

I use the JNK Products Storage Pulley System http://www.jnkproducts.com/garage-pulley.htm

I have one for each one of my yaks. They work great. I got mine locally at CCK Cal Canoe & Kayak Oakland.

Hope this works for you.

I contest the claim that the best way to store a 'yak is on its side . . .

thats what I wanted to do too, but my problem was that I don't have enough length in my garage to pull that off due to a stupid crossbeam support that cuts off my useable ceiling space to about 11 ft.  i ended up just using kayak support straps against a side wall that i picked up from buy.com.  seems to be working well so far.

those pulley systems are also on ebay anywhere from 20-50 bucks each depending on the seller.
