Wife wanted to kayak the Santa Cruz harbor yesterday, so I cleaned up her Perception Sonoma,  cleaned up my OB, gathered up the gear and headed to the harbor.  The water was flat, the sun was out, it was a good day for her to paddle, and to me peddle.  My rudder did not want to flip over into the water!  I had to use my paddle to flip it over!  "Got some maintenance to do on it when I get home" I'm thinking.   The ocean at the harbor mouth was flat!  Next time we do this, were packing a picnic!
Saw the usual birds sunning themselves, Cormorants, grebes, pelicans, and saw one seal cruising the waters.   When I got home, I gave the yaks a good warm water washdown and put her yak away, then started work on my -not working flip-N-stow rudder.
There seemed to be a little tension in the drum, so I loosened the nut just a tiny bit, and that got the rudder flipping easily again.

It was kinda nice to not worry about FF, rod holders, tackle box, water bottle, leashing up rods, besides, wife wouldn't have had patients to wait for me to load up all that stuff.  We just cruised the harbor!
