This is one of the places I love and hate.  I love the fact that it is in my backyard and is one of the most scenic places to paddle but hate that it is one of the most difficult places to catch fish.  Anyone going this Sunday?

I know there are a few people who have this reservoir dialed in.

Wud up Luis?......I'm boycotting ALL&EVERY EastBayRes' that suck! :smt004
That place is on the TOPofMYlist! :smt013
We had 15 yaks there last year and NOT a one of us got a fish, hit or nibble. We DID spent ALOT of time in line waiting to get our inspection.
.....don't get me wrong, the place is BEAUTIFUL, after they fill it up to the top. Just like all our lakes in cali, we need RAIN!
I might give it a go one day for LMB, but I've never fooled one over 17" there.
Goodluck and have fun!  Maybe it will be better this season. :smt002

Amen!!!!  Frustrating... Expensive,  Nazi East Bay Parks Police, :smt075

One problem that keeps the door open,...

When it turns on, the Trout are Huge....

And I have no doubt that the World Record LMB is full of San Pablo planters right now.... :fishing1

that's IT!  Don, you just gave me an idea!  troll OR powerbait for planters, pin one on a CarolinaRig'd-BigCircleHook and then ??
What's the difference?
**I choose to feed, instead of eating myself, MY $16.oo planter to a hungry LMHog.

Are they still planting there? IIRC that was on the "no-plant list"?

Hey, I like that Idea better,  I was thinking of buying one of those $50 swimbaits and troll it around like

The way GuitarZan trolls his " Little Ducky "..... :yak

I just received the opening day notice for San Pablo Reservoir.  It doesn't open until Saturday, February 28th.  They are advertising that 7200 pounds of trout will be planted opening week.  I did very well with trout last year before the water temperature warmed up late in the Spring.  Trolling small Rapalas along the dam was very productive.  This is an EBMUD facilty, not East bay Parks.  The inspection requirements are very similar but they don't accept each other's inspections.

Ya, your right about that, but it's still the Hive of The Nazi EastBay Parks Police,

They have always been extremely rude, especially the Female...

Last year, I even bought a 3 month pass and didn't catch much but it was a good place to relax and test new equipment.  I caught a HUGE carp last year and it's all I have to show in regards to memories of the place.  Maybe one day they will plant Striped Bass in that bowl and that place will turn into Del Valle II!

I agree about the Park Nazi's at that place and they will give you a ticket for anything.
