Depends on who you ask.  IMO it won't stop a full on charge attack, but probably deters them from "test nibbles"...

We have gone around this one before...

 I think the video explains the pros and cons fairly well,

 The jury is still out till further testing, I like having one and feel like I have some sort of defense, But

  Make sure you turn it off before surf landing. It can be quite comical for those around you as your trying to turn the thing off with your Yak lighting up every other second....
