tapeworm...BLOTY... hmmmm :smt044

Wife used to buy salmon a lot.  Then one day my older son says he doesnt like it any more.  Notice that wife starts eating smaller and smaller portions.  Looked into it and yup, the store had changed to farmed atlantic salmon.  So even though my refined palette noticed nothing, they did.

With salmon season closed  :smt010 for who knows how long, we have been eating Costco's atlantic salmon farmed up in Washington. Its just OK. But we also can't go long without smoked salmon, so I use a lot of the Costco fish for that and smoked, its pretty darn good paired with Fat Tire or Red Tail. :smt003

Sorry, but you have it backwards. The salmon pens in BC are cesspools for sea-lice which kill baby wild salmon.

Any fisherman who enjoys catching wild salmon should NOT eat farmed salmon.

And by the way, restaurants often claim to be selling wild salmon when in fact it is farmed, the reason being that there are few people in the industry who regulate and enforce what restaurants/markets sell and how they market it (my brother just wrote an article on this for the SF Weekly). Therefore, unless I catch it myself or know for an absolute fact that salmon is wild, I will have nothing to do with it.

Hey look........you cannot demonize farmed salmon.....
Farmed salmon are    S A V I N G    wild stocks

Farmed salmon are starving out commercial fishermen...and can A N Y T H I N G
benefit wild fish stocks more.....than the elimination of commercial fishing.

Eat a Farmed Salmon
Save a Wild Salmon

It's that simple
