Sorry for such short notice, but Lingcodlonny and family, and myself and family are going to be camping in glory hole recreation area on New melones Lake (just Sunday and Monday) and have an extra camp site reserved. If you want to join just PM me. Cost of site is $32.00 for Sunday and Monday. We would love to have company.....Joe and Lonny Would also love any advise for the lake, targeting trout, bass, crappie, and at night cats...

Check out
http://www.gloryholesports.com/latest_fishing_report.htm

As the report says this time of year the trout and kokes are down really deep in that lake.  Do you have a downrigger on your kayak?  Good time of year for swimming and playing IN the water.

In about two months when the lake turns over you can really nail fat rainbows on the surface there, either from shore or toplining.

Have fun and good luck,
Brian 3Dog

Head towards the spill way and jig the bottom with small hopkin spoons in dull silver. At night fishing under a light a 28-35 is lethal! The bass are biting like heck there. Stop by the gloryhole shop and talk to Melanie. She'll set you striaght on the fishing. Catfishing at night is great too.

I have fished new melones in spring for bass and had success fishing worms deep split shotting.  I would highly recomend live minnows for catfishing.  I did a lot of catfishing at night last summer and I tried everything from stinkbaits to chicken livers.  I have found that the big cats love live minnows you don't get the nibbles all night long from the little cats.
