Hi I recently picked up a used Scupper Pro TW for $160 :smt001. I've fished With my Dad a Few times In his Zest Two EXP, but I am still fairly new at at the Kayaking thing. I took it for a paddle on the Tuolumne River the other day and for the price paid I like it!, scupper stoppers kept my butt dry but i need some for the foot wells. It was a bit unstable at first but after 10 min. I felt comfortable. I didn't try casting because the friendly DFG frowns on that kind of thing this time of year. Now i need to buy a paddle and pfd so i don't have to barrow Dads. Any recommendations? His paddle is an Aquabound Stingray carbon shaft 230cm. It seams short in the Zest but not so bad in the scupper pro, I am 6'1" and 220 Lb. I added 2 flush mount rod holders behind the seat and a scotty up front. Hope to pick up a FF soon and I'm keeping my eyes open for a milk crate.

Welcome, tomahawk.  The Scupper is one of the classic all-around boats.  Enjoy.   :smt001

tomahawk-sounds like you're from the modesto area?  there are a few of us around.  the scupper pro is a good boat from what i hear, it not a little tippy at times.  fast boat though.  230cm sounds about right, you could even go shorter since its only a 26in boat.

tomahawk send me a private message.  i live in turlock and i have a 240cm paddle if you want to test it out to see if its the right length.  you can't keep it though =)

i won't be on the water for at least a week or two so you can play with it a couple times until then.

i am leaving on friday for the weekend so if you want to borrow it tomorrow you're free to do so.

i live in turlock right off taylor

Thats a great price. You did well. I have had the same boat as you for 6 years I think.I find that in the ocean on a windy wave choppy day its a bit tippy when turning around to pilfer through my tackle. They are though one of the fastest SOT's out there due to the streamined hull and the length. If you dont have the little round dash installed I would recommend it.Abalone season is only4 months off. Whoooo hoooo!

I bought it at the local auction yard so It is probably recovered stolen property as the sheriff and CHP sell a lot of stuff there. so if some one sees me on their stolen yak ask to see the receipt before you just shoot me. Merry Christmas to all.
