Nope :smt044

I have to say, the ice cold tecate-in-a-can, pulled from the cooler I was about to dump my limit of lings into, is still the best tasting beer I have had (this may have something to do with the timing & location, but I'm not sure. Maybe it has something to do with the color of the can?)

Hey if we are going for best beer ever, had to be right after I got back from the sand box when I was home on R&R.  GF Made steak a cold one and then I had Bourbon desert with a nice cuban cigar!  That one sticks in my mind!

The best beer was after a 2.5 mile FIVE hour hike down Big Trees Grove on the Middle Fork of the American River. Steep was an understatement. Some places we would have to hang from the trunk of a tree, fall to the next trunk, then hug the terrain to get to another switchback.
When we got to the bottom of the canyon I asked who wanted watermelon and a beer?
One of the guys responded, "You brought watermelon and beer down THAT?!?!?"
I said, "No, YOU DID!?!?!"
Before we left I unloaded his backpack and stashed a 6 pack and a small watermelon in his pack.
That explained why he was having so much trouble. LOL
Oh yea, he was pissed until he had a swig of that beer. It may have been Bud or Coors as it was about 28 years ago.

For you Gordon Beirsch Fans, Grocery Outlet had a pallet of Winter Beer for $4.99 a six, they also had a few different types of Firehouse beer reasonably priced.

Tried a new favorite yesterday, Lagunitas Maximus IPA.
At 7.5%, & it has a great flavor. Perfect for those "one beer, well maybe two..." kinda afternoons.
Yum.

BevMo in Fairfield has a great sale going right now. $10 for a twelve pack of Paulaner Hefeweisen. This is my favorite mass produced hefe you can buy.  :smt007

Fish-n-Jay, I am not sure if you ever had it but when I was stationed in Germany they used to have this stuff called called Berliner Weisse.  It was a wheat beer with a twist, you used a bottle of fruit sauce to go in it.  Not much just a about a shot gave it a really nice flavor.

Has anyone tried Costco's new Kirkland Craft brews?  They have an assorted case that sells for around $20.00.  I'm still brewing my own and enjoy Lagunitas IPA if I buy beer but the price of the Kirkland looks pretty good.  I believe Pyramid is making it for them.  It's too bad there isn't a way to sample each of the 4 beers, other than buying the assorted case.

My wife picked one of those up.  They were alright but nothing to write home about.  The labels aren't very inspiring "amber ale style beer", "german lager style beer" (German lagers are a family of beer, not a style!  It's basically a bock.).   There was a considerable amount of sediment on the bottom of the hefewiezen, so it may be bottle conditioned.  Probably best to pour it into a glass rather than drink from the bottle.  May also want to shake it, or not, depending on how 'hefe' you like your 'weizen'.  ;)

Hefe, are supposed ot have sediment in the bottom or at least all the German ones do.  Pouring it is a technique you roll the bottle as you pour.  My last 6 months in Germany I moonlighted at a local pub and served.  Learned a lot about it.

Were you trying to decant it off the sediment or were you trying to mix some or all of the sediment into the beer?
