Launched at 720 AM under clear but cold conditions and no wind. Temp in the 40's with water temp 53-55 degrees with good water clarity. Trolled the east end and up to the narrows for 3 hours for nada. Fishing was slooow and the PB guys were complaining about the lack of action. Eventually hooked a mini-bass on a blue shad JSR5 which I released. Reminded me of a 5" gopher I caught on a 10" hex bar.  :smt005 Eventually ran into Pat R and Mrs R who were trolling up to the narrows. Trout fishing was slow so I switched to crappie and caught a 14" slab crappie on a blue shad JSR5. Jigged up 2 more which I released. Lost a silver shad JSR5 on a snag but when you target crappie, you are going to lose tackle.  :smt013 Around 12 I headed to the east end for my hail Mary troll and ended up trolling in with Pat R and Mrs R. Hooked a nice 16+" trout about 50 yards from the launch on a silver shad SR5. Great day on the water and great fishing with Pat and meeting Snapperhead and son. James (Stormscrambler) was there but must have left early.

Nice catch, Scott. Your new ride looks great, Pat. And Sara looked very comfortable in the LL. Thought about getting out this weekend but am still having problems with a balky furnace at home.

Nice work Scott.  Someday we'll get out and I'll learn about striper alley and crappie way.

Sorry that the fishies didn't cooperate with you and your lady, Pat.  Sounds like you enjoy yourself none-the-less.

I did have a fun day out there trying to get use to my new ride, hitting the boat wakes at different angles climbing around checking the hatches for leaks just getting a fill for her, it defiantly different from my 160i...... but I like it :smt007.

You think with all that good structure in DV the crappie would be going crazy!! I never see a report where folks target them much- I guess it is because there are bigger fish to fry at DV. Me being from the South bay I can target crappie at Calero. IN a few more months I will be getting down there to try again to get some good bass fishing in as well as those slabs crappie that are in there.

Great day GB and good looking trout as well as the crappie. Sure wish I could have joined ya all to try doing a "triple lindy" out of my Hobie. I actually stayed dry last week.  :smt003. Hopefully see ya all on the water after I ge back from my little vacation get away. WIll be bringing my wife so she will probably catch all the fish again!

Looks like a fun day was had by all. Way to go on the fish. Sure has been some mixed reports coming out of Del Valle the past month. It appears you really need to work for the fish out there.

Thanks for the pics. I was impressed with the maneuverability of the T13 compared to the T15 which is like steering the Bismark after the rudder was blown off.  :smt005 I still have a love hate relationship with my T15 but will say the rod pod is sweeet and for crabbing it is awesome. I may have to add a rudder at some point because when the wind is up it is hard to make precision trolling runs at cover. I made some improvements on my rigging and Plano box which I will post in a few weeks.

Nice work! I wish I could have made it this weekend.  :smt013

I am definitely headed out next Saturday or Sunday. I'll know more as the week progresses. It is supposed to get colder and begin raining sometime this weekend, which has always been my favorite trout fishing weather. Maybe I'll see you guys at DV this weekend!  :smt006
