Gas-$10.00
Entry Fee-$6.00
Fishing Pass -$4.00
Boat inspection -p$3.00

Falling out of the Kayak "again" and living up to your screen name-PRICELESS!!!1 :smt044

Got to Del Valle and on the water a bit after 8:00. Headed to Swallow Bay and ran into a Newbie,Ryan in another Hobie. He got one on a Fire Tiger Rapala then had to leave. I made it to Swallow Bay and get one way in the back on a gold Kastmaster. 16+ inches . On the way back I got a LDR on a Fire Tiger Shad Rap. HAd it hooked good and sure don't know how it god itself off :smt013

Any how made it back past the marina and anchored to take a break. While pulling my anchor in, my visual orientation got skewed and I notice I'm parallel to the water? In I go and I thought I would loose everything. Strom Wrangler and a few guys in a boat come to my rescue since my Hobie is Fins up!!! After a bit finally got it together and called it a day. Saw Great Bass on the water and a few other kayaers and I think we did better than most boaters

SD... Dude you have some good Karma to flip and not lose anything.  :smt003 Nice meeting you and Stormscrambler (James) today. James gave me a nice blow-by-blow on the flippers up event. Pretty slow fishing overall today. Hooked a small trout on a rapala JSR5 silver and black but that was it for me. Couldn't even bag a crappie.  :smt013 Besides the slow fishing, one could not ask for a more beautiful day on my favorite reservior.  :smt003 On the brighter side, I finally wore out my 10 year old Hodgeman wading boots and decided to buy some inexpensive Korkers wading boots and OMG what a buy. Cheap, comfortable, light and interchangeable soles. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/0,75964_Korkers-Wetlands-Wading-Boots-For-Men-and-Women.html  :smt007 They are not pretty but way more comfortable than other boots at 3X the cost.

Thanks for the report splashdown and thanks for taking pictures GB2. Falling in the
water involuntary isn't fun at all. Glad you had some help getting back on.

Not again Stephen! Good to hear you did not loose anything. Wish I was there to take another SD pics.

Hey Scott, I too got me a pair of Korker from STP and I love it.

Sounds like the fishing wasn't red-hot but the side-action was.  Sad I missed the outing but a more important situation presented itself.  Quick question SD, how do you roll an Outback?

Sorry to have organized the "Hook-Up" and not even be able to attend the party.  I had to provide some love and support to a tremendous friend and former soccer coach whose wife went into pre-term labor and the baby didn't make it. :smt010  :smt010

Again, thanks Scott for having your yak ready and loaded.  I really appreciate it.  You truly stand for what NCKA is all about.  And sorry for the late night phone call Friday, hope I didn't wake anybody up.

I'll be looking to get out again to DV soon.  Hope we can get another decent showing.  And I hope to not have to bail again.

Maybe we'll have the same cast of character at Melones for the Trout Bout.

Michael

Michael

I was thinking the Hobie OB would be hard to flip also given the width but if you are leaning over to pull an anchor, I guess anything can happen. No problem on the late night phone call, I was watching the news and no problem bringing the extra yak. At the end of the day, James and I were loading up and he kept looking at the second yak on my car. He didn't say anything but I am sure he was thinking, WTF, one yak is not enough? See you at NM or sooner.

Hey Splashdown,

I am a great fan of pontoons/outriggers.  I can stand up and rock my Hobie Sport and not flip, pull up crab-pots with gusto, and play in the ocean swells and sail in strong winds and dive of the kayak as a very steady "platform".  Call me a woos with "training wheels" but I love the sense of security. I built my own out of pvc and lobster floats and I'll swear by them.  But to each their own, of course...
Thanks for the fun report!

Yea I should look at outriggers cuz I'm such a clutz!
About going "fins-up" when I got to the dock I must have drained out a good six inches of water from my hull. Don't know if that was because of the belly up or I have a leak. I will have to do out and give it a check. Any takers on a life guard?  :smt044
