Great group camp.We had meself, Adam, Eric and Joneszy in our site, next door we had the diver-crew of Bloodbath and his 3 very cool buds Lorenzo, (Zo) Micheal from out of state, and sorry, but the last name has escaped my memory. And on the other side we had the duo Patrick and Allen.
Lots of awesome grub, Bloodbath and crew made fresh ling, sheepshead and abalone ceviche, tons of abalone, fried and raw. Adam brought his marinated chicken and fixings for tortillias. Eric cooked our fish relentless style. Mmmm... I brought good tequila.
Fun jams with Eric, quite the rock-solid strummer you are!
The fishing.... it was nice on the water, a bit of a swell, but the bite was slooow. I had 4 hits all day, landing 2 rockies, one went back and the other one Eric had his way with back at the campfire.
I set my rod in the holder to grab a brew and my rod got slammed, almost rolled the yak it was so violent, but dammit it didnt stick, oh well.
I borrowed a crab-pot from bloodbath and got the biggest red Ive ever seen, I hardly ever keep them because compared to a dungie, there's hardly any meat unless its at least 6 in. across.
This guy had some meat! Delish.
I didnt make it out Sunday, dramomine whacks me out the next day, I would have blown chunks if I went out. I did manage to walk the bluff at the fort and check out the yaks tho, I counted 12.
Hope you guys did good!

Good times!

Rolled up at Casa De Fishunter at 0-dark:30 on Sat and headed over the bridge, arrived early to roust Guitarzan out of his badass homebrew home away from home.

Fishing was slow for most of us both days...  But on Sunday it was kinda fun to watch Patrick do this about ten times in a row:

I guess that you should NEVER believe the report about the water conditions. I read that it was suppose to be 9 ft swells!  :smt012

Beautiful day on the water, Dolphins in the cove when going out whale coming pretty close. slow bite but I was a little slow on the trigger and the lings were biting pretty soft got a couple of just keepers and lost a big one along side trying to take a photo. It was fun watching Patrick school us all, thanks to Allen for giving up Patricks spot, paybacks a bitch :smt005. Just a perfect day to be out no swell or wind all day, T-shirts at 6AM it was hot out there. Thanks to fishunter for making me get off my butt. Ben,Ben where the frick was Ben???

It was my first time there, and I was kinda surprised by the underwater terrain, (in addition to the history of the place)...  All those rocks jutting up out of the water, but looong stretches of flat in between.  Even getting right up within five feet of some of those rocks it was straight down, 60 feet.

I caught a blue and a few gophers sat, then had a HUGE takedown witnessed by several...  it took line then *pop* it was off and I heard a few "Awww!"s behind me, but dropped down again and it was back on!  It must have been big the way it took line but then it snapped me off...  I was bummed all day after that.

Sat night the feast was on as usual...  baked potatoes, fajitas, Dave-style beer steamed tinfoil catch of the day, and meanwhile it sounded like the natives were restless...  we heard pounding and pounding and eventually they showed up bearing ceviche made of ling, sheepshead, and abalone...  it was KILLER DILLER!

Good times til I nodded off...

Left my fishfinder on all night and it worked all the next day, too, on 10 AA's!

I lost SO many jigs to the kelp Sat it was not funny...  But eventually I wised up and Sunday I only lost two.  But all said and done by the end of the day Sunday I was down to my last jighead.

also came really close to burying the nose of my yak in the beach returning in to deceptively calm surf sunday...  Adam was johnny-on-the-spot and has a pic...

I saw all of you guys out on Sunday from a PB. I really need to get out on my Yak for some real fishing. The water was amazing until we tried to dive. I am sure the 5 fish we caught must have been hit on the head with the lead head. visibility was less than a foot WITH a dvie light in 25 feet of water. Yuk.
