Nice work Jedmo!

Good looking backing plate, did you purchase it or fashion it yourself?

Just curious, did you put any goop in your holes before tightening down the screws?  Probably won't be an issue if you didn't, but I gooped the snot out of mine.

Looks good dude.  You will be trolling up some victims in no time.  Having 2 rods out is a cluster sometimes, but I still do it, mostly for trout.  It helps if you have different depth running lures and different length setbacks.

Thanks fellas. I didn't gooped the holes simply because in case I have to modify
it for some other reason, I can remove it without dealing with to many mess. I
used the O ring as a sealing substitute. I will definitely keep an eye on it to make
sure no water will get inside. By the way, the plate was done by our machinist
at work. I pay his labor by giving him some of my catch that is if I get lucky in
exchange for some fishing projects I have. Thanks for helping me on my projects
and sharing pointers. I really appreciate it.

I noticed you had a plate to go under that, did that come with it?

Every Scotty I have gotten just comes with out that.  I have taken to using a stainless fender washer.  Fender washers are can be two to three times the size of a regular washer so it won't pull through under stress.  You can find galvanized ones at home depot, or hit a nut and bolt store and they should have them in Stainless. I had a shop where I lived in Texas and it was easy to get stainless hardware there.  Also because of the recent truck break in I had, I am looking hard at safety torque screws in higher grades for bolting things in place.  Stainless tends to be a soft metal.

Hello kmstorm64,
The backing plate I used for the base inside the kayak was done by our machinist
at work. He is super cool about helping me with some of my fishing projects.
Every now and then I give him some fish in exchange for some of his labor on my
projects. He loves fish.
