Got on to perfect beautiful water about 3:30. Ray was already out on the water. He was determined to get a bass on a Senko. And after not giving up he got one.
I tried hard to find the stripers but wasn't happening, so I paddled over to a new area that I havent worked and threw a Senko for a while and picked up two small bass. By now the sun was starting to go down so back I went to try to find the stripers in my usual spot. Nothing. Talked to another boat who had been all over the delta, Disco Bay, Franks Tract, etc all day and hadnt found one striper. Oh well. I tied on a spook and worked the points when I got a nice blow up. A nice largemouth just shy of 5 pounds. Nice. By now it was very dark and hard to see. So I grab out my new prize reel I won last Sunday on a new rod I bought for it and tie on a Yozuri with a trick worm trailer for a hail mary troll back to my car. I get about a hundred yards and there goes the clicker screaming. Not a big fish, an undersized striper about 15". Good, first fish on the new rod/reel. I cast back out. Another 150 yards. about 100 feet from the launch spot I troll past a point when the clicker screams. I lock down and there is some weight behind it. It's pitch black I cant see a thing and in the distance I hear splash splash splash. Wierd. Doesnt feel like a striper. I get it to the yak and net it. A fatty largemouth. Nice! Ray snaps some pics and back in she goes. Pics below

Nice pics and report.  Well done on the LMB too!  But where are those stripers????

Maybe they are waiting for the rain and really cold weather to settle in before they go on a feeding frenzy.

Have a good one.

Had a blast Jeff even though the fish weren't biting...at least for me. Awesome LMB by the way. I have not seen one of those up close before. I am sure I will get mine someday...I am way to determined not too!! You had me fooled several times hearing your new reel spool up like that. I could have sworn you were snagged on something other than a fish. Very nice reel. I see Eric did a very nice job with the prizes for the tournament last Sunday...WTG! As you mentioned, I did finally get a small LMB using a senko which is what I was determined to do. Still trying to get the feel of using the plastics and picking up on the bites as they are very subtle. Great job Jeff...till next time (next week  :smt003).

Thanks guys. I also forgot to note that the bass i caught on the new rod went 5lb 5 oz. She would be big at spawning time. Best fighting largemouth i have caught yet. Put shame to the 9lber i caught this summer. Jeff
