Hit up lake Mendo with Bob and his son on Saturday. Picked up minnows at the Mendo bait shop and were in the water by about 8:00AM. We marked tons of fish right off the south ramp, but decided to head over to Crappie Cove. Things were pretty slow at first with Bob and his son both picking up a largemouth in the shallows, then a little later both of them hooked up with the right kind in 8' of water. We all stayed in the shallows for a bit and I picked up a 16" smallie. The bite died down for a bit and we were getting bored and decided to call it a day. As we were paddling along the north side of the cove Bob yells out that i still haven't gotten a striper and I'll need to "pull one out of my ass". I reply that yes, I do in fact need the coveted "Hail Mary" fish. Not even two minutes later in 16' of water my pole doubles over and I boat my first striper of the day. A few minutes later Dillon (Bob's son) hooks up, then Bob. Word! We found the fish and did multiple drifts through the same little pocket of water. To make a long story short I ended up catching seven stripers (two double hook ups), Bob landed 6 (had his first double), and Dillon caught two. We left at 4:00PM right in the middle of a wide open bite, too, because I had to get home by 6:00PM 'cause some of the fellas were coming over to watch UFC. Turns out that the UFC didn't start 'til 9:00PM. D'oh!

Anyway, it was nice to get back out and finally land some fish from the yak. I'll be in Vegas this week-end, but might head back next week-end.

Thanks, but I'm so far behind in the AOTY that I haven't even bothered to submit any fish this year. Maybe next year!
