Sweet Dan!! Sounds like they were in more of a biting mood than our trip. Or you got skilz  :smt002 Doing the Klamath in one day, now that's MADNESS!!!  :smt005 WTG There's never any guarentees when you make the drive. It's always a crap shoot. Sounds like you hit it right on the money. Must have been tough to turn around right after eh?

Mahi, wtg...doing it solo and all....iwas looking at aoty scoreboard...Its soooo close... you just need a decent hali to be in the top 3 or 4....in fact 3 to 6 place all are just missing a fish species... after watching this comp unfold i realize that it truley the mother of all competition..........

Dan da man! I went to Mendo last night and saw you hacking something up on your tailgait. I knew what it was from all the pink.

Good on ya Mahi, excellent fish. The Klamath is showing what an awesome river we have here on the Northcoast to compliment some awesome kayak anglers. The Trinity river is showing a lot of life as well with less crowds, mostly bank fishing.

Nice report and nice fish Dan.

BTW, did the McCain/Palin campaign pay you to go fishing and write a great report so that we'd all want to read it (along with constantly seeing your McCain/Palin banner ad)?

I didn't have a scale, and since AOTY has ruined me for fish weight, I would take an uneducated guess at about 18 pounds.

I was talking to a guy this morning and he said he was talking to someone from Fish and Game who said this current run of fish was "unexpected". I don't know what he meant by that, but either Fish and Game thought the run on the Klamath this year was going to be small based on the hatchery stock from a couple of years ago, or they based it on the general depletion of salmon in California.

Dan... You've been on fire this whole year with your 66" dino, winning the CSBA Derby, catching that huge roosterfish, and now.... a nice salmon.
If I had your good mojo, I would have made the long solo trip too... with confidence.

Congrats!
