Tote and I drove up Friday night to Caspar Cove Campground. Saturday morning I checked in for the Picasso Open and headed off to secret dive location JBT 92708. I didn't bag anything huge in the ab department. I did hold the leader board for a while with a small ling. It was great to meet Squidly and Abman. Tote has some pics of the ling he'll post later.

Yep. The title of this report could have read "Briand G bleeds fish and comes in second!!!"
or "Read the Rules first!!"  :smt044 :smt044 :smt044
Brian, James ( Abman ) and I dove together. Brian being the only one who shot anything; a 32'' ling.
Abman needs to change his name to Treasure Finder. Dude found a weight belt, fin, brass clip, game bag with a legal gauge, a trophy gauge and two abs inside. Abs were released unharmed.
Abman makes a mean tri tip. After scoring a nice snack with Abman we headed over and had dinner that night with Squidly and his friend Ian. Great job on the food, thanks. Nice to hang with you both.
Squidly, sorry we forgot to get the ice chest. You can keep the beer but if you could bring the ice chest to Mendo I would appreciate it. If you don't make it I will get is another time.

I can see from the water that it was a fine day for diving. I guess I should have come up. Great underwater shot. Did you guys dive in the cove at caspar? The rocks in the pic look like it. What was your guys biggest abalone? Thats a nice ling also. So did you get any place at all with your fish? Sorry about all the questions.

Stupid about the bleeding on my part but I doubt it would have mattered anyways. As for a prize, I scored a nice set of fins. I could have placed higher in the overall but I didn't feel like shooting the other fish I saw which were a fat greenling and a china. I actually got my ling when it got agitated seeing me shoot a perch. I forgot that perch were on the list and I could have bagged larger ones of those.

I can't say enough about how fun it was hanging out with my NCKA brothers. Thanks the compliments on the ling, beginners luck  :smt003. See you guys at BAM.

It was great weekend meeting 3 more NCKA brothers.   This is an awesome online community and I feel the Madness growing in me daily.

Brian G was the man with a 32" ling at 12# holding the leader board until being bumped by a 13# ling.  No fish for me, I saw a Cab, but never got a shot off.  My 9.44" abs held third on the leader board for a while until I was bumped down to 5th.  2nd through about 7th on the abs were separated by about 0.07"......that is nothing!!!!  Almost subject to how long you play with it measuring different angles.  I was glad to see 1st go to a true trophy ab at 10"+.

Prizes were great as usual.  Prior to starting the general raffle they went down the leader board and beyond to where Brian G and I were knocked off.  When I was called all the wetsuits and highend spearguns where gone but I did get a nice pair of Picasso Black Team Long Fins.  Now I have two pair  :smt003.

Another awesome NCKA Hookup and I look forward to many in the future.

Sounds like a great time and that you guys represented NCKA superbly as expected - WTG!   :smt003

Nice work, BrianG on the hunting.

Cool underwater shots, Mike.

Way to go on the treasure recovery, Abman - I love finding stuff under there and hang alot of old relics with my 10's.

Way to stick em bro. Don't let Angel hear about you passing on the perch....thats downright blasphemous and punishable by excommunication from his dive club.  Thats how I lost my recruit status  :smt009

Tote , Brian g, and abmann it was great meating you guy at the picasso open. I did not see the ice chest when i woke up. I thougt you got it we didn't get up until 900 am.  It was a great time. Brian g. , Ian , and my self took 8th 9th and 10th out of all abs turned in. We went to the same dive spot that Ian and I dove for the tourney and got some killer abs 10 1/8,9 3/4 ,9 1/8. The vis was about 25 feet on sunday. Will post some pics of abs soon.
