Not for me....but for Colm.  CONGRATS... he deserved it.:smt023   He mooched up this 25# slug at 25 pulls down into huge schools of bait between Linda Mar and Pedro Pt.

The swell was up a bit so we didn't stay out too long.  Chris "CDPW" caught a few shakers on the troll.  As for me, I caught and released a few small rockfish.  I should have spent for time fishing for salmon.

Nice work guys! Is this a sign Linda Mar is heating up?

Great job guys!  Joel thanks for breaking the news to me, especially when I was contemplating heading out this morning too.

Bill I don't think Linda Mar is heating up. Usually a run in late August comes  through here and more often than not the fishing is sporadic. This is normally the cool down phase of Linda Mar. This doesn't mean there isn't a few more big hogs to be caught before end of Summer :smt001

It's a  means of measuring depth by hand-pulling line off the reel to drop your bait to a desired depth.  Each pull usually corresponds to about 1ft.

Beautiful fish Colm! Linda Mar IS alive now; whether it's salmon or whatever. There's a lot of life out there now. I had swirls all around me yesterday (dolphins) and some big bubbles that must have been whales. We took a family hike at Mori Pt. this AM and on the way over I saw a spout in Linda Mar Bay, so we turned around and watched a pod of whales swim right through the bay. Some quality fish came out this weekend.
Joel, I fish and dive here almost exclusively 'cause I'm too pathetic to go anywhere else; but it's times like this that remind me that Linda Mar bay is directly over the center of the earth!

Nice fish!!  Looks like it could be a 28lber.

There looks like some big waves in the background.

Stu - when Chuck called and broke the news to me, I got up from bed and raced to Linda Mar - I just had to see this fish for myself. I wanted to fish but I left all my gear and my fishing license in Lee's garage in Belmont (from our trip to Ft. Ross) But I did have my brand new scale handy....I returned the digital scale and got the spring loaded one (Like Sean's / Scwafish). The weight of the fish was 25 on the nose = Breaking Jason's Linda Mar salmon - Heavy-weight record of 24 #'s !

Thanks for identifying that Brian  :smt023 I've caught many sand dabs in Moss Landing and so I was pretty sure it was NOT a sand dab.

Speaking of monster sand dabs, Jim (InSeine) caught a monster sand dab while I was fishing with him on Saturday.  At first we thought it was an undersize halibut, but on closer inspection it seems it was a 16" sand dab.  It might have also been a sand sole but I've never seen one of those before.

I'll see if I can't get him to post a picture of it,
