cast: Shicken,Mooch,yakattack and....sorry, forgot your name :smt013 :smt011

Conditions were overcast, some swell and little wind = not bad as I had expected. Anyway, fishing was good while it lasted - thanks to Marv / Shicken for finding the school of RF. It was really nice to be "out there" again!

I managed one underling (released) on the first drop and kept one Red....

Marv and I paddled towards some working birds out further to the red can when some clueless boater went full speed right in the middle of the feeding frenzy :smt011 The birds scattered and so did the bait :smt013 BUT as we were making our way, I saw a heeeeuge drosal fin surface about 20 yards from marvs yak....definitely not the land lord but was wondering if it was a really huge dolphin or perhaps a baby orca?????

Anyway, we tried looking for the bait and found no joy. I did get a very big hit as I was trooching in 6o FOW on the sandy area...never knew what it was...perhaps a 60 pound halibut...perhaps  :smt003

We hit the jackpot when we arrived in the area where I found good fishing last week.  Joel and Russ immediately hooked up a total of 3 vermillion on artificials.  I found a school of large blacks, gophers, and black and yellows.  This area was loaded with pretty good sized fish.

It was great fishing with both of you guys yesterday! Marv is the man! My buddy Tony got the skunk off of his boat and I ended up with two reds. A pretty damn good day.

Jed  - The swells were funky yesterday. The were not as big as Stillwater but they were in closer succession and a couple of times I had the front of the yak nose in a little bit. The new boat handled it very well but did require that I make sure that I was pointed into them.

At the boat launch, Tony and I were packing up and noticed a big crowd gathering around a boat near the fish cleaning station. I took a walk and noticed the two monsters in the boat. A pair of butts! 23 and 38#'s! :smt103

After Joel and Mooch took off, I had a rather interesting event happen but I will post that in a new thread. :smt002

A double hook-up in a 14 footer!  THAT must have been a fire drill!
