Thule 400XT Aero Foot

Anybody using the 400XT Aero Foot with load bars to carry kayaks? I'm trying to seat the tightening handle properly so that I can lock the gear in place on the truck. However, the only way to do is to loosen the tension until I can position the handle properly, but then the gear slides loosely on the roof. Any help appreciated. The rain gutter is not parallel to the door through the length of the double cab; so the tension needs to be tight to prevent sliding.

I have them on my saturn. I personally dont like them. I cant get them to tighten super tight. I already broke one trying to get them to tighten down. Next time i will try yakima

With Eric B's help, getting it secured tightly was accomplished. Thule makes good stuff but provides such lousy instructions. I'm thinking that the washer on the shaft of the handle has to be situated (farther from the handle itself) in order to tighten the gear sooner, allowing enough ply to seat the handle properly.lk

We got the racks tight, but the problem is getting the locks to snap in right.  There's a little tab that needs to be seated before thge lock snaps in, but in order to get it to seat correctly we had to loosen the racks too much...

Anyone have the locks?

That is the same problem i have. The part you turn to tighten it binds into the other plastic part making it difficult to tighten without thinking you are going to snap something off.                     i am using the locks. They work great and come in a neat little thule metal tin. Jeff
