Hit Paradise again today, and it was windy from the get go. :smt012 It was nice to be cooler, but the wind always makes things more difficult. Met Perry out there for his first attempt at yaking for halis. I gave him a few pointers before hitting the water and we tried to make bait around the piers. I managed a few small shinners and decided to go with them instead of wasting more of the tide, and given the winds, I figured it wasn't going to get any better. Perry kept at the bait chasing for a while then switched to artificials. There were a few PB working the area too. So I'm taking a piss. (you know what that's like on a yak) I'm right in the middle and I hear the clicker on the reel start going and see the rod going bendo! I cut things short, try not to piss on myself  :smt044 and grabbed for my rod, set the hook.....nothing... reel in and the baits gone :smt012  crap!!! sometimes I think they watch us... :smt005 Rebait and send down the next volunteer After about a half hour or so I feel that familiar tapping, wait reel down and set. Fish on!! Get it up to the boat and take a stab with the gaff and lift all at once. Fish goes flying bounces off the side of the boat and takes of running screaming line off.....sound familiar?  :smt044 After the run I work it back and reattempt the gaff. This time it's done right and onto the stringer goes 27"es. I keep at it and the wind starts to get stronger. Perry heads in and calls it a day. Saw a sturgeon breach right next to him, he said a couple broke near him. Last time out I saw a few too, so they're around too. Well I stayed a while longer till it was a constant fight with the wind and called it a day. Not to jinx myself, but so far I'm batting a thousand out there  :smt023 When I got home I checked to see where the gaff hit and the first shot hit right on a bony plate behind the gill. There was a nick and scrape, but it never penetrated. Hense the half gainer off the side of the yak. It sure is fun when they take off on a psyco run tho. To bad they don't fight like that to begin with. Another good time on the water.

A nice read Jonesz.

The fish have spies (my guess it's the gulls and seals)......fiddle with your camera, take a leak, have a sandwich and they will test you. Way to go on the streak Jonesz.

Wish I was out there today. As foggy as it is I'm sure it's nice and flat today... Adam, you should be an editor of the National Enquirer  :smt044 nice play on the quote there. :smt002 I've been trying to secure a new camera, but the first place I ordered from tried to scam me out of another $95 for a battery and charger. Oh' would you like tires with that car sir... and when I told him to cancel the order he started arguing with me and threatened to charge my card $1000!!!! Went a few rounds with that. Now I ordered with another company and they got my zip code wrong, hense it's going to the wrong town!! :smt013 :smt013 Hopefully it'll come in a couple weeks and then I can show a little to back up my words... :smt002

Word is good enough for me but with all hassle's you've had with cameras maybe you should just take up drawing  :smt012
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

I also have found out the hard way not to put a fresh one in the yak. I now gaff them and hook them to a boga grip tied onto the yak. It saves some on the excitement. Oh by the way hope you got to finish what you had started prior to interuptions.

Taking a piss or eating a sandwich is a good way to spark a bite.  I must admit I've wet myself and dropped my sandwich trying to set the hook.

A large percentage of bodies recovered after falling overboard have zippers down on their britches - at least that's what one sailboat skipper liked to repeat just as I was hanging on for dear life during nature breaks on night races!
Do you think you'd get your limit of flatties if you drank more water?
