Revo inshore makes a lefty - great for light action salt water fishing - low profile and super light weight :smt007

So after reading these posts, I am getting a conflicting message.  What is the norm for tackle size here?  Am I looking at somewhere in the 15-25 lb line class?  Some of these posts here and else where make reference to using 20lb and 300 yard capacity spools.  The Abu's are looking at lighter line and smaller capacity.  Being new to the area , I am going to confess my ignorance to the different species out here so what is considered the norm?

Thanks again to everyone for your posts!

Going back to your original post you asked about a lefty for "light saltwater." If you have the $$$ the Abu Revo Inshore would meet your needs nicely. If $$$ is a problem, my recommendation would be a 6501 or 5501 Abu C3. Any of these three reels would work well for striper, halibut, and most rockfish situations. My personal opinion is that the 6501 covers a wider range of saltwater situations. The heavier reels like the Penn 321 and Avets are great if you want to focus on heavier fishing situations like sturgeon or deep water rockfish. But, that's just my 2 cents  :smt003

Although the capacity may be confusing at first, when you concider that braid is 1/4 the diameter of mono you will see why a smaller reel is preferred. Most common set up for rockfish would be a Garcia 5500 or 6500 size reel spooled with 300 yards of 30lb braid and a short top shot of 20-30lb mono mated with a 7ft rod rated at 15-30lb.
IMO this set up has worked great for me on everything from striper's to halibut to rockfish and lingcod.
Hope this helps
