Could I swing by at lunchtime and pop on some quick parts?  I can take a little over an hour, including the drive, so I don't really have time for an intensive tuneup, but I'm short a few screws and both bearings on my 3/0 senator.

Alan will probably have a better answer for you, but I can give you my thoughts on the last time I was there:

1. Alan is running around like a madman most of the time. Trying to give everyone a hand. You have to remember there will be people like me that have never taken a reel apart and others that really know what is going on.

2. There is a limited amount of space @ Fishermans Warehouse. If I recall there are about 14 seats. How fast you can get in and out depends on the amount of space available.

3. If you just want to talk with Alan and get some parts then #2 does not matter.

4. If you want to be in the presence of a reel master you MUST attend!!

So when is everyone planning on attending? I am guessing lunch time will be jammed. Maybe everyone could take a late lunch and meetup around 2 or so?

promethean spark, swing by anytime and we'll take care of you.  worst case, i can mail the reel back to you or you can swing by and pick it up later in the week.

bill, as for a time when everyone shows up, it's really variable.  no two seminars have ever been the same.  some are just packed, others we sit and bs with nothing else to do.

btw, there were alot of kayak guys last time.  thank you.  alan

I'll stop by around lunch too.  Bringing a TLD15 for castability upgrades, a PG255 for drags, and a 6500 for drags as well.

bill, if you have any flyers that talk about this site, you should bring them.  check in with glenn or justin when you arrive, but i'm sure it won't ba a problem to leave the flyers out for people to look at.

Thanks Alan, I will try to put something together. I have the sturgeon pic that I am going to try to get printed out and take up there as well.

I may bring my yak. If the class is over early enough, I may hit Stevens Creek and paddle around and see if the Bass are hungry.

Company welcome!

Or are the parts cash-only?  Need to know if I should hit an atm on my way...  I opened the reel and it needs a new set of drag washers too, minimum, appearantly the open bearing holes let in a fair amount of seawater.  Poor thing.

Yeah it is pretty much cash and carry, I think I spent about $6 last time on my drag washers for the Abu.

It was alot like extreme makeover fishing reel edition.  Alan would probably have freaked out if he saw how that penn 112 reel looked before 4 hours with WD-40, the dremel and a wire wheel were invested in it.  We upgraded the drag to a 5 washer and replaced the gear sleeve, as well as getting new bearings for the ones that were lost.

The reel came out alot better than I'd hoped when I first opened it two days ago, and after testing it out this weekend I'll know if I want to upgrade the handle too.  I was bummed that I had to hurry to get back to work, fortunately I've taken those big penns apart and reassembled them plenty of times and was able to do it quickly.  Those dog springs make them kinda tricky.  I didn't have time for my 9 levelwind, but I got new drag washers to take care of her when I get home.

I'll respool it tonight with 30lb big game line and I should be in buisness on sat.

Kayakers were pretty well represented, comprising about half the people there during lunchtime.  Almost all the faces were familiar, but I've met or seen pics of alot of people from PFIC and coastside too.

Yeah the Kayakers did represent for sure. I also dropped off a copy of Josh's Sturgeon catch, hopefully they will put it up in the shop.

Stuart brought the most busted up ABU I have seen in a while. I will be interested to know how that came out.

I am always amazed by how much Alan knows about every reel out there, simply amazing!
