I dragged Joel and John to the forebay.  John drove and got the biggest striper.  It was 22".  Joel got his limit.  I got 2 to the yak.  Both under size.
Good day, but it was cold and muddy.  Started out slow and the picked up around noon.

All fish on the troll.

Wow that is amazing. I would have figured things would have slowed down there by now. I would not have expected them to bite on the troll either.

I am going to have to hit that again soon.

What was amazing was that all the weeds died out. I was trying to find the weed beds and fish with top water lures - but the weeds were ALL gone  :smt104

We started fishing at 9AM. I caught my limit by 1:30. I caught another keeper at 2PM and two under size on the way back to the launch. Conditions were great - no wind - only a few boaters were out - mostly anchored and bait fishing.

I lost a big one trolling - my rod nearly dipped in the water when I heard my reel scream - my drag was set too tight and I was surprised my line did not break. I paddled a few more strokes to set the hook and as soon as I grabbed the rod, I felt the weight of the fish and it did a head shake and it was GONE  :smt076

Like Ken had mentioned - all were caught trolling. John found a school (he caught 3 in a row trolling in 7 ft. of water) So we concentrated our efforts in that same area and did pretty good.

Congratulations to John for catching the lunker of the day!  :smt023

what are you guys doing out there w/o a camera?  You guys have to know we (guys who can't get on the water) live to read your reports and look at the pictures of your catch.

On this note, I picked up an Aquapac Digital Camera case to safely snap pics this spring.  On sale at REI (either the clearance sale or the outlet).

It was interesting the water was brown and I was telling Joel, maybe its too murky.  Just when i said that, bam a small striper 14", then hooked two more within 5 minutes.   Ended the day catching six stripers with one keeper.

The Fish seemed to be concentrated in certain areas and it was way fun catching them on the troll.

Good exercise and great fun!!

Hey Guys,
The Linesides definitely bite this time of year. Once you find a school you'll need to hold you position and be able to get your fly or lure down as quickly as possibile. Like to do another get together sometime soon. Please remember to catch and release. If we make a practice of always keeping our catch, there won't always be fish.
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

Hey Rickey - what's the worse time of year to fish for stripers at the Forebay? Just curious.

For me it's not so much the time of year as the weather.
What usually stops the fishing is the wind.

Only about 20 more shots and the roll will be done.  And, the way you catch fish it may take until 3005 to "Get it Done".
