….. and Northern Boy is at the plate, facing Lin Cod, the fearsome flamethrower from Rocky Bottom, CA. Northern Boys record against Lin is nothing short of hapless, he is 0 for 6 coming into today’s game and has just one strike left to save himself from making that 0 for 7.

Cod at the plate, he winds, he deals…….Northern Boy hits a fly ball deep to center field..............

This one is way back…………………….

Way back…………………….

OUTTA HERE!!!!!

 :kick :) :P  :kick :) :P  :kick :) :P

Proper non-baseball report;
M’Lady and I went to Stillwater South today. We were over an hour late because I set the alarm for 4pm instead of 4am. D’oh.  The launch was perfect, not a breath of wind.

I had not had a chance to repair or replace the fishfinder, so we were flying blind. Double D’oh. We launched and paddled “round the corner” to discover the kelp went out for miles. We chewed our way through it and out the other side. The swell was rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ rawhide. Wurgh. We spent ~ an hour picking our way thru some nice blues before the swell finally got to me and I started chumming. Treble D’oh. I had dosed with drammamine but it obviously wasn’t enough. :tard:

I hadn’t driven 125 miles to fish for one hour, so I stuck it out. M’Lady was anchored and jigging in the kelp, hooking into the blues and blacks at a fairly steady rate. I was drifting in the open water and not doing so well.  :tard: :tard: We made our way slowly back around the edge of the kelp. After 2 more hours of intermittent chumming and nothing to show for it, I’m fading  :tard: :tard: :drool :drool2.  M’lady is doing her best to keep my spirits up. She has some nice fish in the cooler and points out that if I get any greener I’m not going to be in a fit state to eat them.

One more drop. I figure I might as well get back in the kelp and get me some blues. I throw up some more and pin fresh squid to the scampi……….Oooof………..that’s a nice bite, easy does it. Could be a nice cabbie this…….around the kelp it goes…….oh no………come on…….easy…….easy…….holy cow!!!!!! After a near miss with the net she’s on board, my first legal ling. 31 inches and 14lbs.

whoooo!

It's head was enormous; in fact it was bigger than Lisa’s

And the dogs (sorry for ripping you off Pat).

I know what you’re thinking. Finally Northern Boy gets into the home runs, but it’s with a head that’s all out of proportion with his body. I swear, this Ling is not tainted……..

We stopped at Pezzini on the way back for some fresh Artichokes and ate a fine dinner. The sauce was………errr…….I’d have to as M’lady. She’s still asleep.

A couple more pics; I saw a type of jelly fish I’d never seen before, they were everywhere and looked like fried eggs;

One more shot of the beast. I know, I know, it’s only a ling, but it’s babies first ling, you gotta take lots of pics right?

Going, going, going and gone. I repeat the skunk is gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Way to go. Patience is a virtue that comes around once in awhile to keep us on track. Congrats! That is a beautiful fish and it looks like a beautiful flat ocean on top of that. I also like the white swim baits or large white scampi's.See you up north next weekend? sayonara.

Yeah man. Love the report and love the pics. That's a great ling and the conditions looked awesome. And sticking it out while chumming the water is pretty damn hardcore. Did the fish go for the chum?  :smt005

Loved the play-by-play!   If the Giants played with your determination, I'd be paying some attention to their season.
