I finished making the mount for my FF, using Jonesz idea.
It worked great!
When I get a chance, I will try... key word there, try...
to post a pic.  :smt003
Tomatoecity, I have an extra crutch, if you want it, it is yours.
Hopefully I will not need it. I also have some extra plastic plate if you need that too.
Thanks for all the great ideas.
LD

I tried using a pair of walkers for a stand BTW, bad idea, too top heavy.

LD thank you and yes I will take you up on your offer. I promise to "pay it forward" some day. Let me know when I can ride up to your area to meet & greet.

Here are a couple of pics of my crutch FF set up.
I do plan on upgrading to wing nuts so I can easily disassemble the FF so the scotty mount can fit on my other kayaks.
The hole in the mast tube that the FF locks in is great.

Nice work Tote. Is that a snap knob that's accessible from inside the yak? If so that's a great way to keep the FF snug down.

I did something kinda similar for my OB, but didn't have any crutches to mess with.  However I broke this laundry sorter thingie, which was like a rolling bar for hanging your laundry out of the dryer.  One leg of that thing had a pretty good feeling fit when I slipped it in the mast hole, so I cut it down to size and put a couple holes in it.  Then I made a mounting plate out of some MDF I had lying around, and just cut it to the size of the bottom of my Eagle Cuda 250, and used zip ties to mount it.  Had to put a little bit of tape around the top of the tube, which made it a bit more snug when popping in and out, and keeps it from turning left and right.

Hey ChuckE, my wife actually caught me cutting the brush end of it and
she was mad. I told her that the sucksion part  and the handle fit
perfectly in the mast tube for the ff. She was OK when I explained myself
afterwards. I was going to leave it as is till I got the stare from people. I
knew then it was time to upgrade.

This is how I finally finished mine off.

So are you just running the wires through the hatch?  I ask because I hope to have an OB in another few weeks.

Yes Michael, both the battery line and the line for the transducer. If I am not
mistaken, I got the idea from AlsHobieOutback. The draw back though is that
when launching in the ocean, If I am a little late paddling and I hit the surf, some
water actually gets inside. But, not enough to worry about. Delta, bay,and lake
not a drop of water inside.

What you can do when surf launching is loosen the RAM mount and take the FF off and stow it in the front hatch. Then, once past the surf and ready to fish you can set it up.
