Just curious how those bigger sharks , large salmon sharks , bigger soupfins , makos not to forget 7- gills are landed ? Do you shoot them to subdue them or just wear them out and then beat the  hell out of them . Saw the picture of the Alaskan guys sitting on their kayaks with 3 salmon sharks in their laps , very impressive !

My son caught a 7-gill in Tomales a few years  back that was 8-9' long , now know we did not want to drag that beast into a small 16' aluminum . Got it to the boat twice and tried the gaff the last time , the bite of the gaff

was to small for a fish this size . The shark did the roll and finally broke off , probably a good thing as if he made it in the boat he would have wrecked it  with fishermen bailing out for safety sake .

I know the salmon sharks were taken out using bang sticks and harpoons. I'd say you have to be 1000% sure that they're dead as fried chicken before handling them. As far as a leopard, a swift knock to the head and bleeding should be sufficient. The 7-gill on the other hand has teeth you need to watch out for.. even the small ones. A harpoon might be a good choice for a larger one.
