I met up with Erikk54 and Inseine at the bait shop @ 0700 and bagged some baitcicles.

Cruised over to S.Q. near the Marin Pier to hook up with the U-man, Fishunter, EricB, and the rest of the crew...

Hooker one shaker and one keeper.

Thanks to E-54 for the bait and Adam fro the tutelage...You da man Adam!

This was a great bunch of guys to fish with today.

Thanks again,

Jack

Jack, Eric, Erik, Adam and Naoaki; thanks a bunch for a great day on the water.  I forgot the camera so no pix to post, but just wanted to say how much fun I had catching my first kayak halibut.  I got the dog out on the water as well, which is a rare event for him.  Adam, that Puerto Rican place was awsome....I'm still full.

Another great NCKA turn out!
Thanks, Adam for let us chase him, SteveS's for the quick update, & Jim for getting us bait from LL!
& It was nice to meet all of you guys! :smt006
I didn't get one again :smt009 but got bunch of walleye perches while try to make bait.  Pretty good size ones & I got them on sabiki 5 of them at same time, but I guess it was season yet, so I have to put them back... :smt012
The weather was pretty good until 1pm & the wind picked up.
We got off the water around 2pm & chased Adam again for good food (that was awesome)! :smt007
We gotta do this again! :smt045

& some pics!

hey guys-- just in case you don't know there is a beach launch about 200 yds N of where you launched. Its cool till about .5 feet, then a bit of mud but not too bad.  Just head toward SR on the frontage road and turn into the first driveway past the Rod & Gun club

Hey, nice seeing you guys out there the other day, even if I was one of the skunk bunch!  :smt012

Steve, good to know. Thanks.

I parked & launched just south of the Club - south of the hiway/bridge. It's on Main St, right at the entrance to "San Quentin Village." There's a little dirt patch just off the road, next to a little CalTrans or city storage yard.

It looks a little questionable because it seems close to the prison but it's really not that close, and there's a little old concrete bldg with a No Trespassing/State of CA Property sign down a little driveway nr the launch spot. The bldg is at the base of a little landfilled rock finger extending into the bay with a round, decaying, concrete foundation at the end. There's a chain link fence on the rocks with another No Trespassing/State Property sign but I didn't need to go on the rocks or get too close to the bldg and it looked completely abandoned so decided to go for it, especially since I parked right there. It's a perfect little launch spot, way easier than the rock wall near the Rod & Gun Club.  :thumleft:

The whole time out I was a little worried about leaving the truck there but when I finally came back in, the truck was still there and I didn't get a ticket, plus there were other cars parked all around. Even better, a couple of guys were going out onto the rocks (past the fence with the No Trespassing/State Property sign) to cast hair raisers and other people were all around. Clearly, nobody cares and The Man isn't monitoring the site. :glasses7:  There was also an unlocked, CLEAN Porta-Potty trailer sitting there, so i took the liberty of using it, not that I'm advocating helping yourself to state or city worker's facilities!

OK, now since you probably didn't read through all that verbiage, here's a satellite image of the spot:

yah I know that spot.  Here's the other-- with the red circle in the top left...you can park RIGHT on the beach practically. You can see the entrance to the lot in the pic, and your launch for reference. About a year or two ago there was a break in there, but i've never had an issue

Thanks guys, for letting me tag along and not catch any fish.  :smt001

Just one hookup for me that came off my megabait jig after a few seconds.  It was definitely fun trying out a new spot.

Good Times!!  Good Weather!!(til noon) and GOOD COMPANY!!
oh and GOOD 'Butts!

Arrived@PlanA, too windy!...planB was minutes away. EricB, Naoaki and myself made it over to the spot. got the 3 out-of 4 parking spots as Jim rolls in with the live bait....followed by Erikk54 and Slammer.
Got out on the glass and Jim was the first to get a keeper "CONGRADS on your FIRST YAK'D HALIBUT"
I got an under'butt on a shinner, then it was a few miles of drifting round, until the end of the pier came. I had just put on a lively-chove and paddled as close as i could to the last couple of pillings. Slurp went the bait, I back-paddled away from the pier, so the 22" beast wouldn't run me through it.

Arron arrived soon after and had to find his own launch spot(and a good one at that)...good to wet a line with you Arron(better than the MLPA meetings)

It was SWEET to get the Halibut of my list for AOTY and now can fish for REAL(no pressure  :smt044)

Jack~ was that your first YAK'D 'Butt too?..if so, CONGRADS' to you too!!
and Adam fro the tutelage...You da man Adam!
...just hate to see an ESCAPE that could have been prevented! :smt002

Adam, that Puerto Rican place was awsome....I'm still full.

glad you guys liked it..I had to keep it a secret, or the wife would have been mad that she got left out.
