I think if you don't haul your kayak up the hill you are disqualified it's sorta like a Mothership fun but you should have to do all the work youself. I would make exceptions for anyone who has a medical condition but they need to be ocean safe. How am I doing Erik? :smt003

I don't know,

That's a Monster Hill,  Beach is an obstacle course, poison oak,..

Vicious Bucked Tooth Cotton Tail Bunny Rabbits at every turn...:albino:

Polo shirt wearing Tourist asking Questions about your Kayak :glasses11: :hippy2: :glasses12: :glasses3:

    Brutal!!!!

Personally, I'd shoot myself before I let anyone pull my Yak up the Hill, but that's just my False Pride...

If I just wanted to kick it, Start Drinking Earlier, and Knew I had the Gig in the bag,  WTF...

$20 bucks is a Steal,  I am worried about the Brians Domination on the Raffle,

Guess I'm just Gonna Have to Lug my Own Yak and Sell one of the Kids to Have Raffle Strength....

Actually Allen, I've only commited to bringing 3 extra kayaks up the hill.  BrianG wants to do 5.  BTW, I think a triple would count as my 3 extra kayaks.

I couldn't resist!!!

Hey, havn't you seen the new hobie pedaldrive wheel attachments???  Attaches right to the mirage drive and has a low gear for hills, side wheels that attach to the back scuppers for stability.  Man... I thought you hobie guys would be all over these things.  I saw the ad, it said, "Pedal yourself right up the beach with these new wheels and never leave your seat.  A must have for every Hobie Guy."   :smt003  :smt044

Funny, we just got a couple sets of those and have been touring the neighborhood the last couple nights. We Also adapted the rudder with a rubber tip to use as a hand brake.

Ya know...  if you hire someone to haul your yak you are risking your fish karma.  Like, if you do hire I'd say you have a better chance of getting skunked out there.  If you don't hire you're just neutral karma.  If you speak out against it and maybe even offer to haul yaks for free you may just win the tournee!  Just my take on it - Sorry, Brian's!   :smt003

It doesn't seem to work that way. When you get karmic bonus points for altruism, the reward is most likely to be in an area other than financial gain, no?

whaaaaaaaaat?

The hill at Elk is not bad, its that damn sand if you don't have the proper wheels.  Another big factor in climbing the hill is when you think you might have a winning fish with 10 minutes left to be weighed in.  Sometimes ya just don't want to leave your vessel on the beach.  Last year I did.  Went back down to the beach and it wasn't to bad gettin the cruise missile back up the hill.  Rolleez!

I'll pay $20 for Bill to have his yak sherpa'd.

We should actually all get together and carry him in his yak on our shoulders.

Let's see if we can line that up for a group picture.  Could potentially be a $hitload of overhead weight and a lot of strain on a boat, but would make one helluva picture.

Then, if we're feeling really nutso, we can do six man yak carries with a man inside the boat, sorta like IBS races at BUDS.  That'll get us feeling good like a hard day should!  :smt005  "The pain, the pain, the beautiful pain..."

Brian & Brian,
This sounds like a worthy cause.  What's "basic gear"?

Would 3 dive belts (fred, fuzz and me), fins, spearguns and some molusks all fit nicely inside of a prowler be acceptable?  We'd accompany the sherpa up the hill so that he won't be in a compromising situation in the event "da man" shows up and the sherpa had 9 molusks in his immediate possession.

$20? Ahh, hell its a worthy cause....  $25  :smt003

Stuart

Anyway, we're going to auction off those 8 yak sherpa trips.  The winners of the auction would carry their own rods and fish stringers (they'll want to weigh in their fish in after all) up the hill, we'll do the rest.   Of course, your kayak will have to be free of excess water, sand, yourselves, etc..just your kayak and basic gear please.  We'll pick up your kayak from the beach and bring it to the top of the hill (the parking lot on the west side of Hwy 1) for you.

Wait a second.. something tells me there's a Cobra Triple involved.   Just to be clear this is for bringing up the kayaks after the tournament and not Sunday morning or any other time.
