Hey Everyone! I'm pretty new to Kayak fishing and I was wondering if anyone is Going out for ling or rock cod this Saturday July, 12?? If not, any tips on good launching areas and fishing spots North of the Golden Gate would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Yaker:

Elk is a good spot but, you better have a good Cart with Flotation Tires.
Albion has camping and RV hookup. VanDamm is my fav for Abs/Fishing and family camping.

I don't know your skill level but I do not reccomend Elk for a newbie. For starting out pick one of the calmer launch sites. Do a search on the site and you will find a lot of spots talked about.

If you're going solo be able to rescue solo and have the safety gear needed.

The Oceans' conditions are what will dictate a GO or a Go to a lake or bay. If you're new to kayaking? DON'T GO ALONE!
Like BrianG said, Safety gear and a safe place to launch, will get you going. Try to hook up with someone or in a couple of weeks(7/19) there is a "Angler of The Day" get together and BBQ, right off hwy1, above BodegaBay.
If the swell&wind are doable, most will be driving north about another 45min-1hr. to Ft.RossCove or Salt Point to do thier rock fishing. A good place to go and meet other wanting the same.

Hey thanks for the tips guys. I probably will end up going by myself. My fishing buddies are out of town this weekend. Where ever I go though, I'm going to make sure there's other people near by. Salt point sounds like it may be the place to be this weekend!
