I recently bought a Camp Chef Expedition 3X outdoor stove that I have affectionately named the "MAN STOVE".  They had them stacked up at Costco and I couldn't resist... $169 at Costco.  This thing is truly a pleasure to cook on...

Three burners put out 30,000 BTU's each.  The griddle is made of really heavy cast iron and covers two burners, leaving the third for whatever.  The whole thing comes apart and all the pieces clamp together and stow nicely in a heavy duty bag with rollers (bag sold separately).  Really easy to set up and tear down in just a couple minutes.  Kinda big and heavy, but hard to beat for outdoor cooking.

I've used it several times this year and have put it through it's paces with fajitas, carne asada, about a million pancakes, a huge pot of corn on the cob (like 20 cobs at once), and most recently, fried fish ala Espiritu.  The thing comes through like a champ on all counts.

For the fish fry, I wasn't sure how well it would maintain the heat in my fry pot, but I had about a gallon of oil in a pot and it had no problem holding 350 to 400 degrees with as many as 10 to 12 taco sized pieces of fish in it.  It was about a million times faster than using my fry daddy and had enough power to hold the heat steady, resulting in the yummiest fish I've ever personally fried.

For a bunch of guys that like to cook as much as NCKA... I'd highly recommend it.  Also, if you're looking to replace your gas barbeque, you can get a barbeque box that sits on top of the stove to convert it into a gas barbeque.  Lots of ways to configure it.

Anyway... thought some would be interested...Two big thumbs up from me.

I love my campchef. i've had it for about 8yrs and never had a problem. i got the deluxe model that has two 14"x14" fold out shelves but i paid 230 bucks for it. You can't beat that deal at costco. i also have the 3-burner griddle that i can slide to the side if i want to use one of the burners. it is a great piece of equipment.

I have been using one for years. They rock.
I also have a propane 'tree' connected to a 5 gallon propane tank. A lantern goes on top of the tree and the 'manstove' connects to the tree. VERY nice set up for cooking at night.

I'm a member and wouldn't mind you being my "guest" as they call it.  I'm in south San Jose.

Went to Costco yesterday all set to buy myself a new Man Stove to use at our upcoming karate club summer camp, secure in the knowledge that even better that the delicious food I imagined coming off this technological culinary monster was knowing that I could get reimbursed from the karate club's student account, essentially making the stove "free".  :smt007

Alas, the same gremlins that put my truck in the shop this weekend - killing my planned fishing trip for today - were out doing their dirty work at the Sunnyvale Costco, for the beloved Man Stove was nowhere to be found.  Not even the free food samples could ease my suffering.  :smt010 :smt010

Yeah... major bummer.  In the Santa Rosa store it seems like they carry about one batch of them per year.  I haven't been in there for a while so I don't know if they have any left.
