Setting up my Kayak for fishing and am wondering which type of Paddle Holder most of you prefer, the paddle clips or the keeper with the :smt017  bungie?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

Good post,  wondering the same thing,  I use the "stock" bungie and would like to upgrade to something that is a little easier to use on my prowler.

I have these rubber C clip looking things.  They get the job done but stick out alot and get in the way.  I'm gonna swap my front clip out with the little bungee clip just to streamline it a little.

Paddle in the way?  Throw it overboard and don't worry about it.

Hmmm....where do I vote? I don't see that option. Oh well, I have the spring loaded "C" clips that were already installed on my Fish 'n Dive. So far I'm liking them. I go along with the theory that if it's in your way, chuck it "out" of the way but the clips are easy if I'm after that clean, tidy deck concept.

I mounted 2 bungee types on the port side that I use for my rods. My FnD's big hatch is mounted to far aft for me to get my 7'6 & 8' rods into so I'm forced to lash them to the side on my transit in and out of the surf zone. They work well too but do require more manipulation than the C clips.

Bungee for me, I am with P-spark, with the bungee just set it to the side of the yak opposite the side your fishing. It works for me.

I have a bungee keeper on both sides of the yak. One for my paddle and the other for my billy club  :smt075

I would prefer a bungee-style keeper like that of the other, better Joel.  The rubbery c-clips on the side of the kayak stick out too much and get in the way.

Quick question, though...   I am clumsy and keep getting my hooks caught on anything soft on my boat.  Straps, clothing, fingers, etc.

Do those of you with bungee-style keepers get hooked on them often?  Or is it not an issue.

...only when I'm making bait with my sabiki rod  :smt013  - other than that, it hasn't really been an issue.

If you have an Ocean Kayak, you don't need one.  You can stick the blade under the strap covering the front hatch.  No messing with cords.

If you have, say a FND, I'd probably go with a cord type holder because knowing me, I would not clip it all the way and it might float away.

If you are going through the surf zone, I've read that its dangerous to keep the cord attatched to the paddle/yak, which makes a lot of sense.

If you use phone cord for the leash, hooks can't stick in it.  Phone cord breaks at about 30lbs, so it'll break before cutting you in half or anything.  Wouldn't want to wrap it around my neck and take a tumble in the surf though.
