June 30 / Monday pics...

The rest of the crew took off on Sunday PM but Adam and I stayed at "da pad" for another day. I really wanted to go "cougar hunting" but Adam wanted to fish more  :smt011 :smt002 so I took one for the team and took him to Carmel State Beach and fished for half a day. I had a nice  steady pick of RF for the most part and ended up with these. (I lost a few by the yak as I was trying to get used to the slap gaff that EK made for me :smt007)

Mooch was still on the prowl at the beach on Moday....he had an idea to go hang-out at the local Starbucks for a while, after I left for home.
We launched at the "Secret" spot and had many depths to choose and drop into.
I got my first "MustRelease" fish and quite good action of MRF(mixed rockfish)
We pulled ourselves away from the tough conditions that we we facing around noon. Went back to the BaseCamp/crashsite, had lunch, cleaned up&fine tuned the place before leaving Moochs'Mansion and returning to the reality of home.

Got to Stillwater by 10AM...ran late coz of an overturned truck full of puppies on HWY 1.....did the emergency first response thing and and saved all the puppies from doom......

Someone please ban this man for posting false accounts and exageration.  It just ain't right.

Day 2....

Quote the Mooch on Saturday, "I'm a lover not a fighter"...and he proves it on sunday....love em and leave, thats how he rolls.

And within seconds the playboy moves on to the second love of his life.  Instant Wood.

Mooch couldn't contain himself, who doesn't eat waffles and blocks of cheese for breakfast?

Then he mangasmed when a block of cheddar made an entrance. Mooch, Monetery Jack and Cheddar....threesome, move over Hef.

He finished his pre-dive meal and we decided to throw a game plan together. Mooch went M.I.A.....again.  There was a sound resembling garbage trucks colliding into an overturned truck of puppies that were not in fact being saved from doom on hwy 1. We found the source.

We woke him up and got back to the scheeming.  Original plan was to hit spot x but that was a no go so we caravaned down the coast looking for action.

We found this spot.....lurkers keep out.

The goat trail was a nasty S.O.B. It would require teamwork, multiple trips up an down, heavy lifting and ropes but the water was too much to pass up.  We did a quick survey to ensure everyone was game....Art, definitely IN.....Angel, In.....Adam, I'm with you guys.....Brian, Its not that bad I'm in.......Liz, I wanna kill fish, IN!.......Mooch, I think we should try Stillwater again.

.......so we get to work unloading, carrying, climbing but someone was M.I.A.  Joel managed to avoid the community effort to get the gear to the water.

Mooch musta been feeling rejuvinated after striking out with the ladies and scoring the mandog.

He had a Little Captain in him......little captain ferrrrrrrrnando  :smt001

We hit the water, 3 of us are diving and 2 are fishing.  Earlier in the day I asked Mooch why he hasn't dove with Fuzz yet.  He says he doesn't know.....but I do.  Here he is in full stealth stalker mode......freestyle swimming the surface, in the middle of a thick kelp bed, with a pole spear in his hand.

I noticed a school of fish hangin on a pinnacle so I called him over to check it out.  He dropped down on it with the grace of a bull elephant.  He gets beneath the fish and lines up on one directly above him and right beneath me.  I didn't think he would actually take the shot but he did....

Ended my day a bit early so I hung in the yak and provided support to the other divers till on of the fisherpeople was done and offered to swap places with me.  So I'm on the horn talking to and looking for the yakkers coming from the outside, finish up the convo and turn around to look for the swimmers....I spot Anglo and Brian but can't find mooch who was prowling really close to the shore rocks.  I asked anglo if he knew where he swam off to and nada.  The area they dove was really small so I paddled around looking for him....I started getting that holy sh*t where is he feeling so I shouted out his name and he pops his head up from behind a rock on shore....he got out without telling anyone.  I was relieved but still a little pissed, NCKA woulda lynched me if I lost their mandog gulping Idol.
Adam and Liz were on the outside doing well.

till one slipped out of her hand.

They cam in and I headed out.  Fishing was slow but I scored a couple for the dinner plate.

It was good rolling with the boys but this was waiting back at home for me so I had to head home.

MP......out.........

He told us all about it.  As a matter of fact that was the picture Art posted of him fishing in 12 FOW.  I think he pulled all the verms out of there so it's probably not worth keeping a secret anymore.

Great report.... a little weird with the mandog and all, but very cool nonetheless.  I'm glad y'all had a good time.

BTW, I got an odd cell text msg from the Mooch Saturday afternoon.  It simply said, "Hi Boys.  I like mandogs.  That's all."

Mooch, for your sake, I sure hope someone was just playing a joke with your phone.

That was very creative&imaginative writing Art! You sure know how to beef up a storyline.
Most was acurate and to the detail(except that MrsFisHunter reference :smt012)
That was an adventure, if I had not been on, and seen the report and pics from it....I would have been pissed that I missed it. My first Yak rapel and Liz was the one who "blazed the trial first" we went over the plan of attack and she got in the yak and never looked back....I was right behind her "wait for me in the kelp" I yelled out as she took off. I have a few buddies that would have been waiting in the vehicles until we were done exploring and then asked later if we could go somewhere EASY? :smt011  That's why I roll with "Family NCKA"
Liz and I had plans to hook Lings&BigRedThings. I found some rock-struc. on the outskirts of the thick kelp, dropped down and had fish on almost EVERY drop. Liz soon was hooking too, enjoying double-ups and tossing back the smaller ones or we would have had to stop after the first hour. Everytime I looked up at Liz, she was either fighting or clippin-on a RF.
We had to paddle ourselves away from the easy pickins, to search out the school of Reds.

Liz was the one who "blazed the trial first"

Yeah, I was pretty surprised at how down she was to get in the water at that spot.  She's a trooper for sure.

Liz and I had plans to hook Lings&BigRedThings.

She's been searching for them reds for a couple of seasons now and hasn't run into one.  I'm hoping she finds one soon or else I'm going to have to have her fish the secret "south central" spot.
