Glad you guys made it back safe and sound. Cute little bugger Chucke. When you said you hooked into a little yellow fin, you really meant "little". I know everybody is capping on your catch but I still can't believe that Terry got is ass handed to him by a little toro... The East Cape isn't anything like Clear Lake, did somebody forget to tell him to tighten his drag? 2 1/2 hours is about 2 hours too long... That is too funny. Looks like a great trip though. Wish I could've made it... I'm looking forward to getting back down there next year... I hope.

I had a great time on this outing.  Everyone on the road trip and the NCKA guys at the ranch were great!  I picked up the nickname Aquaman and I wanted to use it as my screen name, but it was already taken. I have a lot of pictures and video to post, but I am going to start with some fish porn.  My buddy Greg and I stayed at a resort in La Vantana near La Paz for 3 days because we wanted to spearfish at Isla Cerralvo (http://www.palapasventana.com/).  We had a blast and I had the best stroke of luck in my spearfishing career.

Our panga driver dropped us off on a pinnacle near the island and told us there could be wahoo there. I leveled off at 40 feet on  my first dive and immediately saw a small wahoo.  I took a shot at it and missed.  The water was very clear (60-80 feet of visibility) and the wahoo was way out of range.  I grabbed my tuna gun, took a few more dives and started dropping a CD down as a flasher.  I saw some yellowtail swim by so I shot one for shashimi.  I got a good shot and landed the fish.  Then I shot my first wahoo.  It put up a great fight and tasted delicious.  I shot a small amber jack off the same pinicle.  I saw 6 other wahoo, but then the current slacked off and all the fish left.  I was exctactic that I whot a wahoo so I gave the panga a nice tip and half the wahoo.

The next day we moved to a reef that was 45-65 feet deep and started diving for dog tooth pargo.  I was laying on top of the reef when a "big" pargo stuck his head out of a hole.  I got a perfect stone shot on him and landed my first dog tooth without bending my spear  :smt001.  About an hour later I was laying on top of the reef with my flashers trailing out behind me when a    amber jack swam in front of me.  I thought it was about 30 pounds.  I lined up a head shot and also stoned that fish.  when I got my hands on it I realized it was much bigger.  It weighed in at 55 pounds.  My friend Greg was having a slow trip up intill this point.  He shot a nice yellowtail and a dog tooth pargo.

The 3rd day we went back to the pargo reef.  We had seen some really big pargo (45-60 pounds) but they were too far to take a shot at that would be precise enough to ensure that we would land the fish.  I was laying on the reef and saw Greg shoot and stone a 35 pound dog tooth, but his slip tip failed to deploy and the fish came off his spear.  Luckily Greg's shot was perfect and the fish was paralyzed.  I put a second shot in the fish and we were able to land Greg's biggest pargo.  After that I pulled out my underwater video camera and started filming Greg hunting on the reef.  He shot another pargo and I got it on film.
