Well, I would have thought someone else would have started this post but it looks like we all had a busy Saturday evening and even a busier Sunday so here is how I remember it.......

Woke up at about the time I would be going to bed in my earlier days. Called Patrick to find he was already on his way over so by the time I brewed the coffee, fed the dogs and gave them their "better be good" biscuts we were on our way. A couple of miles east of Jenner I was telling Patrick (probably for the twentyth time) about just missing a deer by inches years ago at just the same spot.  Less than a minute later a big buck jumped out into our lane and thanks to the all wheel discs and antilock we were all spared a bitter way to start a day. Lightning was flashing to the north and west but luckily passed through before we made it to the park.
We arrived at the fort a bit after five to find Rory right on our heels,  Brent (repoman?) and Fishhunter met us at the bottom of the hill. By the time we launched through a minimal swell and made it out of the cove I turned around and it looked like a kayak invasion behind us. At one point there was better than a dozen kayaks off the cove including InSeine, (?sorry?), and a group from Sacto who when asked read the site but as of yet are not "pro-active".
The fishing was great except for the lack of vermilion in the typical spots.....I don't recall any of the five of us landing one. One thing is for sure the party/private boats must read our reports as we tended to attract both in numbers. My only ling landed was while the party boat Profish'nt had drifted to within fifty feet of us .....that'll sell some future kayaks! One of the sacto guys was fishing with his "clicker" on and I was told by one of the others he does this just to annoy his buddies as he is hearing impaired......sounds like one of my friends. This same guy hooks up a ??? with one of those white "party boat" style rods bent all the way to the water and  proceeds to go on a sleigh ride north. I chased him down with the camera but what ever it was will remain a mystery.
Just before the wind came up Brent was going to dive for abs  so I followed him to observe only as my sinuses are shot. After Brent finished I offered to tow his tube through the kelp and out to open water.  I decided to toss his fully loaded tube up on my cooler on the back....mistake. The tube was in the water on my left and I thought it best to wing it around the front of my kayak and land it on top the cooler....further mistake. I overshot the cooler and the tube sailed over the back causing the tether to garrot myself so I went with the flow..... and then practiced my "self rescue" skills with the added difficulty of untangling the cord/kelp.
As the wind picked up it seemed everyone decided to beach at about the same time furthering the "invasion" scenario and resembling a mass bug-out ending another BEAUTIFUL day on the water.

Right on!!! I REALLY wanted to make it and had planned on it but the fatigue factor set in and I decided not to push it. Good decision in the long run but still pissed I wasn't there. :smt011
I will have to start making my reports a lot more vague so the PB's don't take advantage.
Only give the specifics through PM's to those who I know are NCKA loyals.
Thanks for the email Allen. I wil definitely be in touch!

Great report. Looks like it was a great day to be on the water... or under it. Doesn't sound like the typical F. Ross fish but fishing has been real slow all over. Way to bang it out though. I keep saying that it's only going to get better and I believe it. I guess time will tell.

Take it easy,

Freddie

...after I got home from a FULL day at the Bean, my house was HOTasHELL and NO BayBreeze in the forcast. I left my stuff in the car, ate dinner and CRASHED on the couch. I awoke at 2:30 and thought of the RossCrew getting up and out....so I did TOO!  Lunch and coffee made and was on the2.5hr road to Ross.
Seeing lighting strikes on the north horizon, i knew it would be oily-glass out there...and it was!
As I pull onto the dirtroad to the launch, I see the crew walking down from the parking lot...."I'm late!"
I unloaded and ran back down to join the launch.
I launched last and gave a hesitant Rory a good shove out!..then jumped on "thee mighty JL" and we were off to the enjoy the sunrise on the water. I'm getting out my stuff and I hear Rory yelling about something on his hook....I paddle to him and this is what he got on his "first drop, that didn't even hit bottom!"
Congrats on your First "everything" Rory.... and good to see you're recovering smoothly and efficently.
I again went BIG and got a Big Greenlin to hit the teasser. RepoMan told me to put him on a hook, lower it into some RockStructure and watch the ocean engulf it.....man, he made it sound so good...I did it.

pic1~ the harsh surface conditions of the outside waters.

pic2~ the sunrise to a GREAT DAY of salty jiggin.

pic3~ Rory and his "Bustin"Ling!

I paraded this Greenling around for about 4hrs. at many different structural depths. Finally something engulfed it, as it went from 30' straight down vertically to 50', I felt a heavy load on the rod, gave it a lil'slack, then started reelin in. Allen paddled over to witness and document my unexperienced arse, netting this nice Ling, then as I go to lay my rod down in the yak...the net gets lowered simultaneously, the Ling sees it's window to jump, shake hook loose and then completed the great escape. :smt013   :smt010
GOODthingI'MnotRELYINGonFISHforFOOD.....i'dBEaWAFE!

Another "Great Time" with my fellow NCKA Breths', out on the salty-blue!  :smt004
When's the next hunt down?
