Oyster Point 06/13/08 - Friday

Greetings,

Late start for me.  I was on the water by 9:30am.  B-A-R-F was able to see me pull up to the OP parking area from across the waterway in Genentech's cafeteria.  That was kind of cool.  Ran into fellow NCKA member, BackCountry, on the water.

Well, skunked again at OP.  I am determined to catch something edible from this area. 

- Launched around 9am-ish
- Drifting live bait, Shiners & Bullheads(B&T ran out of shiners)
- Worked the Genentech Point and East of OP Pier.
- Helped a shore fisherman with a 30+lb batray.  Unfortunately, his 12lb test gave up as I was going to unhook it.
- Off the water by 2pm.  Wind started picking up.
- Ate lunch!
- Nada for me.  Maybe BackCountry did better.

I was on the water at 8:00am... there was a slight breeze even at that quasi-early hour, and it never really let up...

I bought six of the last eight shiners from B&T shop... two were decent size, the other four were pinners... drifted around for a while and had a fun fight with a 3-foot leopard at about 10:00am... short while after that, I think I had a butt nibbling my bait, but no hook-up...

Drifted/paddled over towards Goutless and then we drifted together for about two hours before he paddles in at around 2pm... I "said" I was staying out for another 90 minutes or so, but at about 2:20 the MOTHER OF ALL GALES turns on and it was all I could do to paddle back to the launch (into the wind)... fortunately, my spidy-sense had told me to get in a bit closer as the day progressed, so it wasn't too bad.

Oh, as far as weather/temps, even during the gale I was totally comfy in just board shorts and t-shirt.... all day... matter of fact, between 11am and 1pm, I was actually hot, AND THEN I REALIZED I FORGOT THE BEER!!!  Major rookie move!

Finally, about 15 minutes after Goutless paddles away from me I reel in another leopard, 'bout 2 feet this time...

Beats working, but I sure would like to catch a BUTT!
